She's from Iran and you mention "her culture", so I'm assuming you mean she is Muslim. Are you Muslim as well?

If she is and you are not, this is another red flag.

We don't like Vancouver (except for mountains maybe). So yeah, that came to our mind. Is it really worth it that much effort?

Because her dad paid for ther PR card to government, that's why she is afraid of telling him that she goes with me to Spain.


But that would be the only problem, so if we can't stay here then we will go to Spain.

Really, it shouldn't be that difficult to stay more time here once you get work permit, if your company wants and you want, why not?

The "why not" is to protect Canadians from losing their jobs to non-Canadians. Think of what would happen if anyone from anywhere in the world could come take a job with no requirements. Doctors and lawyers would be getting paid minimum wage .

But seriously, you are a web developer. Just stay as a visitor, do some freelancing or get some online clients outside of Canada, or a remote job from Spain. You can work remotely as long as you aren't working for any Canadian. My husband and I travel all over doing that. Yea it's not as easy as having a regular job but it's flexible and it would allow you to stay with her legally.

But, is she muslim? Because muslims don't usually marry non-muslims. I don't see what she would have to gain from the marriage to make that particularly suspicious though, in this case, but it would still be a red flag. There are schemers out there who will marry out of their faith just to get Canadian PR. Since you aren't religious they may wonder why she is marrying a non-muslim.

I think her going with you to Spain is a pretty good idea if you're not willing to give your relationship 6-12 months extra as a visitor in Canada before applying.

Anyway if I were you, apply to switch your status to visitor in September, stay here for 5-6 months and then apply after a year or so of your relationship, as Aquakitty said, with web development skills i'm sure you could get some remote contracts anyway

I have to agree with everyone else's comments regarding the red flags of your application for permanent residence via the sponsorship route. I find it concerning that you have only been in a relationship with your girlfriend for 3 months and you are already considering marrying her (which is a big life commitment and change) and for you to propose that only 3 months into your relationship is strange, and the Immigration Officer would probably assume so too especially where it will be around the same time as your IEC permit expires.

Sponsors under the Common Law and Spousal category do not have to meet minimum requirements of income, however it would be better on your part for your spouse/partner to have savings or have some sort of reliable income such as a job than not have a job at all. Another thing is that you should not be so concerned about obtaining your open work permit, if your application was to be accepted which im very wary of that it will, you should be very happy that you get to spend your life with the person you love and the work permit should be the last thing on your mind.

It seems to me that you are only interesting in obtaining a new open work permit and permanent residence in Canada from what you have been posting on this forum, your relationship does not seem genuine to me and everyone else on here I am afraid to say so I would consider trying to apply for some other work permit or visitor visa so you can spend more time with your partner and get to know her more before you make a big commitment like this as you are only in a short relationship at this time and things can change.
