Hello Everyone,

I have a question about an inadmissible family member. I am planning to marry my partner in September and start the process to sponsor him but I know his dad has a criminal record from 15 years ago in their home country. I was reading somewhere that if a family member is inad to Canada (even tho they are not the ones applying) it can render the Sponsered person inad as well.....is that true? What would be my options to sponsor my spouse in this case? I appreciate and info

Not true so far as this case goes. Apply as any other spousal sponsorship.
Thank you so much for the reply! I was worried about that since I read somewhere that non accompanying family members may render an applicant non admissible

I had applied for a visitor visa for him 2 years ago but it was refused due to financial reasons, there was no mention of being inadmissible so I guess that is a good indication too

Hello Everyone,

I have another concern about my application.

We are planning to get married but my parents will not attend. My parents know about me being gay but my parents are older generation and they choose to stay out of my love life therefore when I get married in Costa Rica they will not be present.

Will this cause a problem when I apply to Sponsor him? I see some applications get rejected because of this.

Write a letter of explanation and usually you should be fine. Ircc knows that often families don't approve of same sex marriages. If you have other relatives, friends, etc, attending, that should help.
