hello guys,
I need a little help/suggestions here on this forum regarding changing name? (acquiring my husband last name). We got married in Canada a year ago and proceed to Outland Sponsorship Application but on our application I still used my last name(before married). Now, passport has to expire soon and renew it very soon... I am thinking to use my husband Last name. My question is, if I use my husband last name on my passport would that affect to our application.

I really appreciated your comments/suggestions here. Thank you and God bless you guys :D
For the most part, it should be no problem at all as far as your application goes. There was one forum member here a few years ago applying through Manila (I couldn't find him using Search) who had a heck of a time by doing the same thing. HOWEVER his wife did so BEFORE they applied. So not exactly the same scenario. Now their problem lay with the NSO, and your application is sitting with CIC now, so I think you will be fine.

No.. As long as you inform CIC right away when you change information.. So here's the answer to your question:

Hello there. I hope you can give me advice on what's the best thing that i should do. I am helping my brother po to check his permanent visa application status. :) :) :)

The best thing to do is to wait nalang po talaga. Since nkapag pass na po kau ng additional documents and pag wala na cla iba ererequest, next would be Passport Request. After that , if tapos na po iprocess ung papers the status will change to "Decision Made" from "In Process", that means for dispatch or on the way na ang passport with visa stamped.Anyway , June Applicant po sya ? Malapit na po yun. Visa Office in Manila usually process applications 8-10 mos dpnde po sa case. So wait nalang po passport request if hndi pa narequest, and if narequest na wait for the status to change to DECISION MADE. If youre also planning to contact CEM regarding the status of application, some of their replies were just "Application is still within processing time" ..but you can try ur luck. Swrte2 lang ksi. Other than that, the sponsor which is ur brother's wife can also order GCMS notes , makikita dun kung nag start na ba ang processing or background checks.

Just my opinion guys

I don’t like the way CIC handles passport request and hold it for 5 months or more. This is very unfair for those applicants who will travel abroad right after they have submitted their passports because they have no idea when they will receive it back. It would be nicer if they will notify the applicants with regards to the date of the passport return or just return it after 10 day just like the way they handle visa stamping for nominees.
