Hi jeans22, although the requesting process for both docs are the same, their contents are entirely different.
Should your marriage record be found at the National Indices of Marriage of NSO, your request for CENOMAR will result to an Advisory on Marriage (AOM). Indicated in the AOM are the details regarding your marriage. Whereas kapag hindi pa registered ang marriage ninyo, CENOMAR pa lang ang makukuha mo. Maybe the embassy requests for AOM to serve as one more additional proof of your marriage to your spouse

Don't worry, mabilis lang naman kumuha ng AOM sa NSO.
BTW, sa Manila ka ba? Kasi nakarating na sa'yo agad ang PPR/AOR Good for you

Thanks for the reply katefs. Since we just got married in the states (Aug. 3 '10) I don't think they'll be any record of our marriage yet sa NSO. I asked the clerks awhile ago pagka-request ko ng CENOMAR about how long does it usually take bago makuha ng NSO ang report on marriage pagka galing abroad. She said the shortest is 3 months. Tapos I've read before sa ibang post na they were also asked an Advisory on Marriages kahit nag submit na sila ng CENOMAR with their original application.

Hay... Hopefully okay lang ulet na CENOMAR ang i-send ko. Or do you guys think I should also add an explanation since wala pa kaming record sa NSO?

based on my experience. I got married Feb. of this year but not abroad. here sa pinas and then we found out na hindi pala ka agad agad magkakaroon ng copy ang NSO, sabi pa nila samin nun it will take 3-6 months.. but then a lawyer advosed we can request it sa nso. i think the term is pa indorse.. may certain letter na kailangan magkaroon na kaagad ng copy ng nso kasi syempre diba kailangan pag mag apply ka visa para when embassy verify in nso may marraige copy ka dun.. ask nso.. they know that... 100 plus ung babayaran after 1 week ung samin nun may copy na ung nso.

about marraige advisory... nalito embassy siguro kasi you are married then ceritifacate of no marraige binigay u.. pag may copy na nso ng marraige u, you still have to fill up the cenomar form.. if ur a woman fill up with your maiden name then ma tatrack na pag married ka... marraige advisory ang lalabas.

This does help, in a way. Thanks Hentaznel! The thing is we got married abroad. I have a copy of our Marriage Certificate pero I'm not sure kung pwede gamitin yun para i-endorse yung marriage namin. Nonetheless, I'll bring it tomorrow sa NSO and ask anyways.

regarding: cenomar concern
minsan talaga they ask for it twice and just like what hentazel said ang cenomar nga 3 months after your marriage pa nag rereflect sa NSO so hopefully may kakilala kayo sa loob to expedite the process. Good thing yung mother in law ko may kakilala sa NSO so nakuha agad namin yung copy ng CENOMAR in a week

I believe what you can do is provide NSO with the documentation of your marriage in the U.S. and for sure the Philippine government recognizes marriages from the US. I guess tanong mo nalang sa NSO if yung documents you have now will suffice as legit evidence to prove that you are indeed married and so they can update their records para sa Philippines it will show your name as married na rin.

ako pinass ko cenomar kase sa canada ako kinasal eh, feeling ko para makita nila na wala talaga ko asawa sa pinas kaya sinama ko na din..napaisip tuloy ako kung kailangan ko pa ba pumunta ng nso para register ung amin kahit sa canada naman kame kinasal kase lahat naman ng documents namen sa govt nila galing hmmm... may sarili naman kame marriage license dun.. sinama ko naman ng marriage certificate and contract hihingan pa kaya ko? hay pag hiningan siguro ko mageexplain na lang ako tutal ikakasal din kame sa pinas in two years time pa nga lang..hala napapaisip tuloy ako bigla...

the reason why they want a cenomar from us is because they want to see if you are indeed married so your cenomar has to show that you are married to your spouse who is sponsoring you. ang CENOMAR namin ng wife ko says "(wife's name) is married to (my name) on XXXXX etc."

if you try to obtain a CENOMAR before you get married it will say "(your name is not married to anyone as of (date)"

also if you look at the CENOMAR it will say on top "advisory on marriage" so a CENOMAR is an Advisory on marriage its the same thing

I sent the advisory of marriage where it says I'm married to____ and vice versa. Sana makuha mo agad ung AOM mo..Good luck! Pareho pala tayo ng timeline, tayong tatlo ni katefs.. My husband also just received his AOR and PPR.
