Hi guys!

Newly-wed newbie here! This is my first time to post but I've been reading this thread for some time now.

My fiance and I just got married last Dec 2014. He is a Filipino permanent resident in Canada. We are planning to apply for my spouse visa as soon as we get our NSO marriage certificate.

Tanong ko lang sana.. When you guys applied for spouse visa, DID YOU HIRE AN IMMIGRATION CONSULTANT TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION? or kanya-kanyang pasa lang kayo?

If you did hire someone, can you guys give me referrals? So far I've only contacted CPIS (Canadian Professional Immigration Services) but their processing fee is kinda steep. But we're willing to pay naman. We're still looking for other options. Baka may ma-recommend kayo iba?

I would recommend that you do it your own. The processing times is still the same either you have an agency or no. Just tell your spouse to print all the needed documents and read the guide in cic.gc.ca or tanong2 sya sa mga friends nya na ng sponsor before. You'll going to spend around 60k sa agency sis.

I'd rather suggest that you apply on your own.. I think there's no difference on applying through a representative.. And besides you are the one to fill up and provide the necessary documents for the application.

Feeling ko sis sabay2 tayo ng DM noong Friday. Hopefully dumating agad ang visa before ang holiday for Papal Visit.Malayo pa kasi province namin, kelangan pa ni hubby mg-plane papuntang Manila for PDOS

Three days ago, Jan 8 ay nakatanggap ako ng email from CEM na cnasabing in final stages na visa application ko. Then kinabukasan, Jan 9 ng 11:30am, may nagcall sa akin ng dalawang beses, kaso di ko nasagot dhil di ko dala phone ko. Ito ung number: (02)241 9500
From manila ito, kc 02 ung code number. Hindi kaya CEM ung tumawag? Nagcall back ako sa number na un, kaso recorded voice ung sumsagot. "The number is not in service" ung cnasabi. Inuulit ko ung callback ko, kaso ganun pa rin ang sagot. May nakaexperience na po ba ng ganito? Thanks..

Scarlet_sky I would suggest to do the application on your own. May instructions naman and everything. Basta before sending it make sure na wala ka nakalimutan i fill up at pirmahan, and attach all documents na kailangan yan usually ang cause of delay kase pag may kulang ibabalik sayo yung buong package mo.

Akala ko kasi mas mapapadali at mas malaki ang chance ma-approve if mag hire kami ng agency na mag process ng application namin.

So kayo, you applied on your own lang talaga? Umokay naman?

Yeah, we applied on our own lng. Prehas lng dn naman kasi ikaw dn fifill-up lahat ng forms. If you just read the instructions mdali lng, then make sure na complete lahat ng forms and my check list nmn ng lahat na kelangan nyo kaya hindi masyado complicated. Pwede kn mgpamedical sis basta my passport ka.

Yup! Did it on our own. Did my PR application years ago, then now yung sa husband ko naman. Smooth naman lahat. Basta kumpleto mo requirements. Tama si margiequirao, pag sa agency ka ganun din naman, ikaw din magfill up at magprovide ng documents. Ang gagawin lang nila icheck yung gawa mo at sila yung magsasubmit on your behalf. I think its a waste of money lalo kung straight forward naman yung case mo.
