Hello - I've been following this forum for several months but only joined in now. October 2013 applicant ako and until now we are still in process. Has anyone ever had their passport returned (without visa) and then the embassy will request for it again on a later date when they're ready for a decision? My husband had emailed the embassy to follow up and an ensure they got his re-med results. He just mentioned that they have had his passport since May and that he has been unable to travel. Shockingly they replied and said they would return his passport for now. I'm worried this is just going to delay things even more. Wondering if anyone has experienced this. Thanks!

Here is my timeline:

October 7, 2013 - Application Received by CIC
April 14, 2013 - Medical Check Up
October 23, 2013 - Sponsor Approval
May 26, 2014 - PPR
May 26, 2014 - Re-medical request however husband didn't see it because it went to his Junk email
May 30, 2014 - Passport & Additional information sent
July 10, 2014 - Ecas changed to "In Process"
July 10, 2014 - Re-medical request follow up
July 23, 2014 - Re-medical completed
October 7, 2014 - Husband emailed CEM to follow up. They replied same day saying "Application is currently queued for visa officer's review. Medical valid until August 5, 2015. We will be returning your passport so you could travel outside of the country for the time being. Another request will be sent to you once we are in the position to finalize your application" Also received that COA email.
October 8, 2014 - Husband got his passport back - no visa :(

COA po yan, voluntary po yan unlike PDOS which is Compulsary/mandatory. almost all the applicants who are In Process status received the same email, it's up to you kung gusto mo umattend, magregister ka po, pero alm ko november na yun next available orientation.

does it mean if we attend that seminar hindi na kmi mag PDOS pag dating ng passport nmin?

ayaw kasi ni CEM na mag follow up ka tapos sasabihin mo na hindi ka makapag travel dahil nasa kanila yung passport...naku sis nakakalungkot, mukhang mas tatagal pa yung visa nyo..

Mam, ung PDOS (for PR's Spouse) or GCP (foreigners's Spouse) ng CFO ay compulsory... itong sa IOM funded by CIC is voluntary. Back read din ng konti pag may time. ;) ;D

Camwah, magtatravel pala hubby mo during the process? sayang naman na ni return ni CEM ang passport without visa kasi I think they are working on last year's applications na. Malay mo DM na sana next week....

I know :( napasama pa yung email ng asawa ko. Oh well just gotta keep praying for it. We've been in a long distance relationship for 8.5 years na. Was really hoping he could go home with me right after Our church wedding is in the Philippines this january.

Well there was plans for him and his family but it didn't push through plus he didn't have his passport. I mean most of our travel plans were for January. He tried to reply back again to say that if they think it would be reviewed within the next couple months they could just keep it. But they sent it back so fast later that same day! Process takes forever yet it was so fast for them to return his passport just like that.

Sana! Thanks for the encouragement. I guess we weren't expecting it too take this long especially since nah ppr kami in May pa. It is unfair for them to hold his passport for 5 months. Even if he wanted to travel he couldn't really do anything about it. Praying for the best.

seems like the processing is so much faster these days. At least you will be together sooner :)
