As far as I know, NBI for travel abroad and canadian visa is the same. Its the international NBI certificate coloured green.

Hi - Hoping to hear from someone with specific experience in navigating channels of child custody in the Philippines.

The scenario: We have applied (JAN 2014) for spousal PRV for my Filipina wife & her 6-year-old son. I have been approved as sponsor. When we submitted the application we did not include the form IMM5604 (a release from the non-accompanying parent) because we were told by the Philippines social services (DSWD) and a lawyer that my wife has de facto sole custody of the child because the biological father is not named on the birth certificate (hate the label but for all intents & purposes the boy is "illegitimate" in the law's eyes).

We made a note in the "child custody" section of the application to this effect and included a sworn affidavit from my wife as to everything she has done as sole provider for the boy. I'm a bit concerned now that this may not be sufficient, that CIC may require a court issued judgement of custody in lieu of form IMM5604. Such a judgement could also take quite a while -- or this is where I'm hoping someone may have real Philippines experience??!! (The easy thing would surely be to have the bio-dad complete the 5604 form and return it to us to send to the Manila VO. But my wife isn't sure she can find the guy, doesn't really want to speak to him, and isn't sure he would cooperate. She put this clown behind her 5 years ago & has done an amazing job raising "our son" that for me the psycho-emotional fallout of trying to find the guy is a course of action that is just not worth it.)

I am actually working on a project in Europe right now, so I can't reach the call centre from here, but this forum is often a better knowledge source anyway imo. I don't want to wait to get a letter much later this year from the VO saying that they require IMM5604 or a judgement of custody for the application to proceed....and then it taking who knows how many more months for a solution to that! Sooooo, anyone with any real experience in this out there who can weigh in? Thanks!

Actually, di ka pa magkakaroon agad ng UCI number, di ko alam when.. I'd have to check on that. Pero, you could use the application number (usually starts with F00 you can find this sa SA letter na sinend ni CIC sa wife mo) to check on your own status sa eCAS nyo. If you cant find it, you still can check it yourself naman. All you need is yung UCI ng wife mo, last name and birthdate and country. Ako, si husband yung sponsor ko pero, I'm the one who's checking the status sa eCAS. As I've mentioned before, kung titignan natin ang trend, by July, you should hear from them. Pero WE SHOULD NEVER ASSUME para di masakit umasa-asa. Kasi paiba-iba rin sila minsan bumibilis, minsan bumabagal. About your schooling, kung ako ang tatanungin mo, may possibility kasi na mapaaga ka or baka hindi rin. Ganyan din dilemma ng nephew ko nun so, he decided not to enroll na lang but instead kumuha na lang sya ng short courses na pwede nya magamit sa Canada while waiting. Use this time din to fix your credentials para madala mo na din sa CA.

i think para sakin po tong reply n to tama ba? hehe eh kse po malapit n po ako mag graduate s civil engineering program po s feu-eac trisem po kme. meron p po ako natitira 2 terms. 1 is pra s lahat ng natitirang subj and the last term is for the ojt. mejo mahal din po ang tuition kaya ncoconfused po ako. kse kung magenroll po ako tapos bigla dumating papers tapos kelangan mkaalis bago maexpired ang medical malamang lamang kekelanganin ko idrop lahat ng subj ko. pero pagiisipan nalang nmin ng wife ko kung magenroll pko or hnd na. as of now po kse nagtratrabaho ako related s cors ko. so kung d nalang ako magenroll tuloy ko nalang to trabaho habang naghihintay. salamat po. this will help. tnx po s advise. godbless. )

Mga Bros at Sis I-clarify ko lang itong case ko.

PR holder ako na andito ngayon sa Pinas kasi tinatapos ko yung med school ko. Planning to stay ditto ng sagad sa allowed years na nasa labas ng Canada (3 years out of 5 years). Ikinasal din ako last December and we are ecpecting a baby soon.

Pag nag apply ako ng sponsorship ko sa Mag ina ko pag balik ko sa Canada, Family Class ba ang application process or Spouse? Magkaiba ba ang proseso nilang dalawa at ang kani-kanilang time line?
