I would either go with all or nothing personally. I was thinking of leaving it all blank, that is, if ever my partner gets a passport request! It would appear that the VO office forgot to finish July 2012; today they picked their first September applicant and earlier one from November!

But you're a family member, so you have to be included on the Appendix A - that's the whole basis of the application isn't it? You're are Common Law partners, right?

Yes, we are common-law partners. So you think my details should be entered even though I am a Canadian citizen?

From the point of view of the CIC this form is all about foreigner's being sponsored to come to Canada so I thought maybe they would consider it redundant to enter my information on the form. Of course, it can do no harm. Except the officer will scoff at the stupid applicant who doesn't know how to fill out a simple form!

I would rather add some humour to their day then have them question me why my spouse didn't add me as a family member.. I know it's a bit of a silly premise, but I feel like they send out the second Appendix A just to try and trip you up! If you find the first Appendix A you filled out I would make sure it says the same things ;)

There is no original Appendix A. There is that IMM5406 Additional Family Information where you list the applicant and of course you do list yourself as the spouse. Is that the form you mean?

I believe you are thinking of Schedule A Background/Declaration IMM5669 which must be filled out for the applicant and for any spouse or children that is listed on the Application for Permanent Residence IMM0008. On that form IMM008 Question 3 asks "How many family members are included in this application?" In both of our cases the answer is 1. Therefore, when we sent the original application in we did not include a Schedule A Background/Declaration for me.
