Yeah, I noticed that. One would think that using English would not only be good from the standpoint of practice for when they arrive in Canada, but also that the chances of getting an answer to any question will increase dramatically since almost everyone here speaks English.

I have worked at a number of places where you get people who like to group up and speak in their native language. They usually become friends, hang together in the office, speak their language unless they have to talk to someone else for work, eat lunch together etc. It sounds nice and if they want to do it why not? Well, here's why not. Usually these are the people that never get noticed and never get promotions. It is because they are completely off the radar of everyone else at the company.

So when many of you arrive you should try to expand your contacts and speak the language. Finding only others like yourselves and speaking your own language unless absolutely necessary is not a route for success.

Just some friendly advice. Take it or leave it as you like.
They want to feel comfortable..that's fine. And they want to completely understand and give each other advice.. also fine with me. They will have to speak English soon anyways... :P (.. evil laugh.. you will be assimilated..)

At work we had a rule. English only in public places. It's so that people don't appear rude in front of their co-workers or customers. I long gave up getting frustrated trying to read this thread.. not being able to ask questions or follow along. If we're not Filipinos at least we're married to one. Obviously we are invested enough to know and love the culture. Even if I did the nice thing and learned the language of my partner I couldn't understand this thread. Would Ilokano or Bisayan help me here? ??? It would be nice if we could all talk together.

Hey guys :) i believe that many of us here are quite capable of speaking decent English. It's not that we want to exclude others, but I think that speaking Tagalog does help other members who would rather speak the native language. I don't want to come across as rude by speaking Tagalog, an I do appreciate your insights with regards to the importance of English in Canada. Thank you for the tips. And please don't hesistate to ask to ask or comment in this thread, even though most of the posts are in Tagalog. You will find that you will get answers, whether your post is in English or Tagalog. We are a friendly bunch here. You can ask our buddy Tagum who has made quite a few friends despite not speaking Tagalog. I am posting my own thoughts here, and the opinions i have expressed may not necessarily reflect those of the other members here

Just my two cents. :) Peace out.

I guess the point you just made yourself is that it's a preference and not a necessity.. a preference which excludes others. I don't mind anymore as I have given up trying to follow.. you know how desperately I want to follow everyone's progress. If it makes you guys comfortable I will just be happy on my own.

i cannot help regarding the appendix C, i tried looking for it sa cic but I can't find it (help guys!) since the one we used during our application were the old forms pa, and the one's we are going to use for remedical were sent by the embassy.

anyway, regarding the medical fee, yung P5250 is for applicant from ages 15 and above, so the price of the medical exam for your kid depends kung saan age bracket siya included. like in our case, my kids ages are 2 and 4, so I have to pay P1875 each for them on top of P5250 I ahve to pay for myself. kindly check the link given to you again, it's there po. :)

I know where to find appendix C, but sorry I can't read most of your post because of the Tagalog. Did you find it?

You have to read the country specific guide.. it has a lot of very important information besides the Appendix C ::)

^ she hasnt found the appendix C yet. ive already answered the other inquiry regarding the medical fee :)

hi. i checked it myself several times but it seems that appendix C is no longer under the philippines specific guide. it only mentions appendix a and b (up till the photo specifications only) or maybe i'm missing something... :'(

That's spooky, it was there when we applied. I wonder where it went?

With the release of the new GCMS 4.0, it should be noted that all previous versions of the IMM 1017 form as well as the Appendix C will no longer to be used. With this release, there will be two newly-revised IMM 1017 forms:

IMM 1017: Medical Report: Client Biodata and Summary (not available on our website as it will be GCMS-generated along with medical instructions)
IMM 1017B: Upfront Medical Report: Client Biodata and Summary (not available on our website as panel physicians will have these forms in their office. With the implementation of the new IMM 1017B, Appendix C will no longer be required)

So, I'm not really sure regarding the process for those who will be having their Medical Exams for the first time. Help anyone?

Maybe it'll be better to give a call to the DMP where you're planning to have your medicals done to be sure. :)

The doctors should have the form in their office.. good luck with that one! I would source out an old version of the form just to be certain.. or ask them over the phone, they're really helpful if you call the clinics.

I understand your point. I started out on this thread speaking full English but as time went by everyone else was speaking Tagalog so I was like what the heck. But as you can see we are all friendly. I for one am willing to speak either language :)

Ahh the Appendix C is now gone! I saw people talking about the new Medical form but when I went for my medical last December, we still used the Appendix C and they gave me the Copy 2. Try calling St luke's (http://www.slec.ph/contact-us.php). I agree with annarella, tawag nalang to be sure. :)

Perfect! Maybe you can learn a bit more from us here :) it's Tagalog, so yeah, universal Filipino. Might be similiar in other dialects too :)
