Hey guys, quick question.. I'm sponsoring my Australian common-law partner outland and we're looking to be December applicants. He had a national police check done in September, do you think we should redo it again for our application so that it has a closer date to the time we are sending out our app? Thanks

No need, since it's still valid and will remain valid until ~ March 2017 (if he's still in Australia), or if he's no longer there, indefinitely if the PCC was issued after the last time he lived there. CIC changed their validity policy regarding PCCs several months ago.

The day that CIC receives the application, is the `locked-in' date, regarding anything that could expire (except for the medical).

Hello Friends,

I submitted my wife's file on 7th Nov, Wednesday. I haven't got any mail from CIC yet.
When can I expect the first mail?

Guys, quick question.

Does filing for and receiving student loan affect my sponsorship approval?

No - it won't impact your application.

Hi,
So basically I applied for spousal immigration from Canada in Nov 2015. and i got my work permit in Feb 2016. In Aug 2016, we have got our 1st stage approval and our medical was upfront thats why its was automatically updated on the website. Now i am waiting for my final decision since everafter.
At the same time, i started my job in April 2016 with a renowned company. But now i have got an admission in mount royal university and my program will be started in Jan 2nd, 2016 thats why i applied for study permit last week and according to Processing time, it will take 7 weeks thats mean i can only recieve my study permit by 3rd week of Jan which is too close. but i cant miss a single class in my university. now i am confused what to do?
What are my chances to beat this timelines ?
Please help mee!!!!

Hello Friends,

A quick question - I have submitted the file for spousal sponsorship for my wife at Mississauga, Canada, on 7th Nov 2016.
What is the expected time to receive the first email from their side?

Thank you :)

Another question I had.. My partner was reading over his principal applicant forms and saw that it asks for birth certificates and photos from additional family members (parents and siblings). Is this required if I am only sponsoring my common-law partner? I don't think it's necessary but he is worried that he needs to provide it. Probably a stupid question, but we're anxious about the entire process :P Thanks again

No, he does not need to provide birth certificates or photos for other family members. If he was immigrating and was bringing those family members with him, he would. This is where those forms can be confusing, when they mention other family members (including a souse or partner). Some people think that if they're being sponsored by their spouse or partner, they also need to include forms for them but...in the case where the spouse or partner is the sponsor, it's not needed.

He will have to complete the Additional Family Members form (IMM 5406 I believe), where he will have to list family members, but only their basic information.
They are not going to be included in his PR application; CIC just wants to know who they are. ;)

You can't apply online.

If your kids are Canadian you can apply for a proof of Canadian citizenship. If not the you have to add them as dependents and use a paper spousal sponsorship.

Thank you very much SaskinSeoul.but, what will be the procedure? why we cannot apply in online? but, there is a service for online submission.am i correct in saying that?

In order to sponsor them for PR, you must submit the application and all the supporting documents to CIC Mississauga. There is no online application in this category.

Thank you very much MilesAway. i have one more clarification.what about visiting visa spousal sponsorship only for few months like 3 or 6 or a year? and i want to know if a person who got PR in canada, that person can sponsor his/her parents? what will be the procedures? but, since who has PR in canada ,Does that person has to do any documentation?and whats that parents has to do to immigrate canada from sri lanka ASAP?

Our application was accepted May 2015. I finally got the letter today saying I was accepted as a Sponsor! :D

QUESTION...

I was sure I paid a fee for this when I first applied...

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)
The Right of Permanent Residence Fee is applicable to your application. If you have chosen to defer
payment of that fee, you will be contacted to make the payment at a later date. Your family member(s)
cannot become a permanent resident of Canada until this payment is made.

Maybe this is just part of the form letter and I already paid it? I am going to check my receipts.

Finally some movement! Excited!
