depends upon visa,
if visit visa then insurance is required
if on PR visa then no need of insurance

You don't say what kind of insurance you are looking for. If you are referring to Provincial health program and for a person that has an undecided immigration case, it depends on the province or territory the applicant lives in. In the case of Ontario, the applicant of an undecided PR case cannot obtain provincial coverage unless the application is in-land and the "approval in principal" has been issued. In the case of private insurance, you need to go to private insurance companies and ask, but be aware that many insurance companies will have a waiting period to use maternity benefits. Travelers insurance also works for visitors, but then again, maternity may not be covered as travelers insurances are mostly for emergencies and minor issues.

I am a canadian PR and getting married in nov 2015 in India. the girl is from india and she doesn't work. It takes from one year to one and a half to get spouce visa. I have seen that they don't give visitor visa after applying for spouce PR.

What do u guys suggest should I apply for visitor visa before getting married or I should go through the normal process and then wait for one year??

It's too late to obtain private insurance to cover the delivery of the baby. You can only purchase this type of insurance before someone is pregnant.

If you want to keep the deliver charges low, look into using a midwife and giving birth at home instead of at a hospital.

It's just a generic form for family, yes you should put that you are her common law partner. This form is used in other applications besides sponsorship, so that's why it seems weird they would ask if she has a common law partner when she is obviously being sponsored by her common law partner. Put your status as common law on the forms, since you've lived together for over a year you are legally common law. You may want to fill out the Statutory Declaration of Common Law though. It's not required, but CIC has been known to ask for it later.

As for your son, I'm not sure, someone more senior than me will have to help you out there

EDIT: I just checked the CIC guide and it says "include children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner" so it looks like you should put him on it.

Thank you solo much. Yeah it didn't makes sense to me that they were asking if she has a common law partner when that is the reason for the application.

Better to get visit visa first to come to canada otherwise it wil tie usual long time

Hello.that is super post. me and my husband are planing to apply soon for PR under Family visa.my husband is Canadian citizen .he is on lifetime financal support for epilepsy but in the immigration they told us that he wont be refused for sponsor because its a sickness. i would like to ask u if u want to tell me which all documents my husband need to do the first part of the application and does he have to take them to Mississauga or he can do it on line? thank you

As long as your husband is specifically receiving disability payments (rather than regular social assistance / welfare) - he can sponsor you.

You must submit both parts of the application (sponsor and applicant) together - otherwise the application will be returned to you as incomplete. You must mail your application package to Mississauga. Drop offs are not accepted. No - you cannot apply online. The entire application package must be mailed together.

The FSW process is very different and you can't compare. For spousal sponsorship, medicals are done in advance and most pay RPRF with their original application package. Some visa offices request the passport at the start of the process, some at the end - and if you're visa exempt, you don't even have to submit your passport. So not comparable to the FSW process.

Its a spousal case. Medical and fee was paid in Feb.
