Hi. I find this site really helpful and easy. I have posted inquiries and people actually replied. Thanks to that.

Got few question still, I hope people here won't get tired of answering.

My trv will expire on June 26. I applied for visa extension for change of status yesterday. We are gathering documents/ requirements for in Canada application for my pr thru my husband's sponsorship.

Questions:

1. How long it will take me to get a reply from my visa extension as tourist?
2. Should I include an open work permit application with my pr application? I noticed that the form is just the same for my visa extension application.
3. Will the open work permit application be additional fee on top of pr app fee?
4. Should I get a medical done to include in my pr application?

Thank you so much.

Dear Scylla thanks for answering my question.

The problem is for now we cannot live together since Im in Canada and he is in our home country. we cannot get married because of some family issues. I was thinking about sponsoring him to come for a visit. I know that for visiting visa he should show that he has strong ties in his home country to return and I think he cant prove this because he doesn't own properties. he is still student and his family is supporting him financially. Considering this situation what would you suggest us to do?

thanks again :)
There is nothing stopping you from going back to your home country to live together for 12 months. If there is no legal barrier to getting married, then CIC will not consider it. Family issues are not a legal barrier, but a choice. You could go to a third country to get married.

Hi i have made a whatsapp group for spousal sponsorship .

1. I honestly have no idea.
2. Yes, you should. Even though you can get a visitor extension which will allow you to stay longer, when you apply for OWP together with the PR application you will be considered in "implied status" as a visitor if your visa expires, given that the applications have been received by CIC before your current visa expires. When you receive your OWP within the given 4 months CIC states (I got mine in only 10 weeks) you will be considered a "worker" instead of "visitor" and you can actually get a job and work legally while waiting for the PR app to get approved.
3. Yes, it's an additional fee of $255 on top of the pr app fee which is (including the right of permanent residence fee) $1040.
4. You can do that, I did as well just because I wanted to get it all over with as soon as possible. However medicals are only valid for 1 year. If your medicals expire before they have processed your application, you might have to do them again at some point. And since inland takes around 26 months according to the CIC website you could also decide to do your medical when CIC asks for it, however that will probably also add some time to the total processing of your application. Either way, CIC will probably screw you over on this point.

He can certainly try coming as a visitor - however this won't mean you can sponsor him for PR as soon as he arrives. You will still need to either get married or live together for a year to become common law before you will be able to sponsor him.

Fantastic post! Thank you so much.

Quick question I have, do you have to get all your photocopies of supporting documents certified by a notary?

Also, as a sponsor, do you send all the applications and documents at the same time? So I will send in the forms and supporting documents as the sponsor and the forms and documents for my sponsored person?

Thank you so much!

Just follow the instruction in the Guide and/or the document checklist. Only certain documents need to be certified/notarized.

Yes. Send everything together:

1. Sponsor's forms and required documents

2. Applicants forms and required documents

3. All of your evidence of a bona fide/genuine relationship

This isn't a question. Just feel the need to tell someone that yesterday (Friday) I sent our spousal application to CIC to get there by courier on Monday morning and I'm already nervous despite confidence in our application. The more posts I read, the more I worry about if we did things as well as possible. I am spending the afternoon reading posts instead of out in the warm sun calmly thinking of being with my wife.

But this is 6 months after marriage date, and after over 2 years of daily contact, so this isn't a quickie MOC. I am confident, but there are always more and more things to be nervous about.

8) but nervous

Hello Seniors,

I was hoping to get serious help with my issue over here. I am Permanent resident of Canada. I just did court marriage in India and now I will put my spousal sponsorship file later on. According to the CIC requirement, we need to show them the marriage was done as per Indian tradition. Due to time constraints and some other reasons, would not be able to do traditional wedding as per Indian tradition. I did court marriage and I am planning to make a new passport of my spouse with my first and last name. I do have photos for our engagement and honeymoon but do not have traditional marriage photos. I was wondering what to do at this stage, Should those photos are necessary to put up my spouse file? or How can I prove that it was genuine marriage. I do have enough photos of our outings, hotels, honeymoons, etc. I will go next year for my reception so again do not have photos for my reception, too. I really don't know what to do at this stage. I need some seniors suggestions to go with the process.

Thank you very much for your time. God bless all.
