hi everyone, I am new to the forum and I am seeking some assistance. my wife live in Canada, and I live in Jamaica. we have been married for over six months now and we recently submit our application over a month ago. since then we have not receive any reply from Canada Immegration.
I am an accounting clerk by profession, and she works in administration back home in Canada. she visits me over 4 times a year. how ever i have not been able to visit her due to the visa situation; which at the moment I am planning on going for a visa so that we can spend christmas together as a family with the kidz and her mom. ( dont want to take her away from the kidz and her mom during the chrismas holiday).
my questions are:
1. How long before they contact me? (application submitted over a month but not more than 2 months)
2. Is it ok for me to go for a visa while my application is being processed?
3.and how much cash in canadian dollars do they expect me to have in my account when I apply for the visa?

amendment to say that this person is already married, DFA in the philippines and consulates around the world do that in order not to change passport name from single to married. but my worry is does it matter to them if the passport is not yet amended? Thank you for the prompt reply. I'm under spouse sponsorship.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. But this is a Filipino thing, not a Canadian requirement. They won't care if the passport says married or not, only that the name and data matches their information.

No, as long as you aren't bankrupt, you are ok.

There is no problem sponsoring him while he stays in the US. It does not take longer and he is allowed to come visit you while you wait for processing. Even better if he has a job in the US that he can prove to the IO that he is not planning on overstaying.

From what I've been reading, this is the better way to go? Vs. him living here while we applying?

@rjessome

Thank you for that. One more thing if we are not going to have any representative do we still need to submit the form (Use of a representative)? and if my calculation is right i'll be paying $1,040 for the Spousal Sponsorship? thank you!

No, don't submit the form if you don't have a representative. Yes, your calculation is correct. Obviously you are paying the Right of Permanent Residence fee ($490) upfront. If you chose to pay it when they are ready to issue the visa, your total would be $550 now and $490 later. Paying upfront avoids delays.

@rjessome

The sponsor receives the letter and it is not a confirmation. It is a decision as to whether the sponsorship has been approved. Hopefully you or your husband sent the application and obtained a tracking number. That is the only way you will be able to ensure that CPC Mississauga (outland) or CPC Vegreville (inland) received your file. If you applied outland, it will take about 6 weeks for them to make a decision on the file and advise your husband. If you applied inland, it will take about 7 months for them to advise you if you received first stage approval or if your file has been transferred to a local office.

thx alottttttttttttt..............

I should also not that outland application get a decision regarding SPONSORSHIP from CPC Mississauga. If sponsorship is approved, then the file is transferred to the appropriate visa office to process the PR application. The timeline for that depends on the visa office chosen.
