They can stay even if it expires. It just means they can no longer travel with the card if it's expired. But their PR status remains.

As I said, the big concern here is there's a chance the CBSA officer they talk to when entering Canada, will notice they don't meet residency obligations and report them, in which case they would still be allowed to enter Canada but would get an appointment to meet with government to determine their PR status, and would most likely have it revoked.

But if they aren't reported, all is good. There is no telling if they will be reported or not upon arrival.

when i call CIC the agent said exactly what you mention in the first line but then just t make sure I am getting the correct info I call CIC again and they said once its expired nothing can be done. So this is really confusing.
If my spouse can "successfully" enter Canada even if she dont have the residency obligation and stay here for 2 years then renew it will be great otherwise will have no choice but to sponsor her.
One more question...in the case it get revoke - what next? Can she stay in Canada or she will have to go back?

If the PR card expires while outside Canada and she don't meet residency requirement, then the agent is correct and nothing can be done (assuming she is NOT visa-exempt). In this case she should just voluntarily give up PR status.

But an expired PR card if you are already in Canada, doesn't mean anything. It's the same as having an expired passport. Once she meets the residency obligations she can just apply to renew it with no problems. Of course during the 2 years in Canada, she can't leave for any reason whatsoever as she would not be able to return.

One more question...in the case it get revoke - what next? Can she stay in Canada or she will have to go back?

If the CBSA officer reports her, and she has her hearing and PR is revoked... then she would need to apply for a TRV if she wanted to stay in Canada. But there's a good chance that would be denied, so in that case would need to return back to home country and wait until you can sponsor her again for PR.

Hello,

So I am a Canadian citizen applying for my husband sponsorship. I have filled the forms but I have troubke getting the PCC from KSA. The VO is Abu Dhabi, I want to know how long do they normally take in order ti provide the request letter for PCC. He has his PCC from England and its about to expire in three weeks and we want to submit the application ASAP. We just werent sure if we needed to submit PCC for KSA now since we thought they would request it later. Please help me out anyone from Saudi Arabia if you remember the timeline of getting the PCC from Riyadh and if you can request your home embassy (Pakistani) can help you with providing one and id it matters how the request for PCC was put in?

Our application status has been changed to IN PROCESS at Paris VO.
However it still doesn't show that my husband's medicals has been received.
AND.... a question: my husband has children from a previous marriage. His daughter is 18 (still in high school) and his son is 15. They are both in full custody of their mother. We did not get medicals done for them, nor police clearances, since the mom refused. Now we have received a request from the Paris VO to send the daughter's police clearance and a IMM 5669. Why do they still request this even though we have signed a declaration that we are aware of the fact that we can not sponsor them in the future? Any one had experience with this?

Because it is mandatory for dependents to submit medical exams. You are going to have to try again to get medical exams for his children. Do whatever is in your power for the children's mother to understand this. If it can't be done, then I would have a legal document done up stating that the mother wouldn't allow them to have the Medicals and that you completely understand the repercussions of not providing the medical exams for his children.

Hello everyone,

Do we fill out the forms in the Instruction Guide as well? Like the Supplementary Information Form or Residency Questionnaire. I am sponsoring my husband who is a Pakistani citizen residing in Saudi Arabia. Please help me with the Instruction Guid. I am confused.

Also, only two of the forms IMM 0008 and Undertaking Form generate the bar code page and none other than that? Am I right?

Need ur help and guidance. PLs suggest in my situation.

We filed inland in May 2014. Recieved AOR in August. Later we came across some mistakes overlooked by our representative so in sept 2014 we filed correction of affidiavit and cancellation of representative.
We are not able to check status online... looks like only till April 2014 are able to login ..

Could you suggest how can we get the status.. Customer care number no one picks up...

Okay so someone needs to help me asap please. Just a little bit of scenario, I am Canadian citizen and sponsoring my husband who resides in Saudi Arabia and is a Pakistani National. Now I know we are choosing ADVO as our office but I am really confused about the Instruction Guide. So I have a few questions if anyone is in the similar situation.

1. There is a document checklist under Sponsorship Forms [IMM 5491] and then there is a Document Checklist in the Instruction Guide for Middle East. Am I submitting both?

2. Will my husband be filling the Supplementary Travel Info and Military Forms.


3. There is a Residency Questionnaire that has CHC Islamabad written on top and then there are two Residency Questionnaires for the residents of Abu Dhabi. Now my husband is clearly a resident of Saudi Arabia but a Pakistani national. Will he be filling our any other those forms in this guide:

4. One of the questions in the Residency questionnaire is : "Please give the name of the countries where your sponsor has resided, your sponsor's complete
address(es), and telephone numbers in these countries, as well as period of residence at each
address since the time your sponsorship application was submitted"
.. Now with this question I think we fill this form at a later stage when the VO requests us.


I dont want to miss any document to cause any delay. This forum is really helpful and I am sure be able to help us.
