Mizangel,

Thanks for your reply.

I was wondering if somebody here has filed outland application, stayed in Canada and sent in visitor extension application to maintain legal status in Canada.

Did your husband has to extend his visitor status after 6 months? If yes, did he leave Canada and come back or did he filed visitor extension?

I'm US citizen. I'm here in Canada with my husband and our 8 month old in common. I was gonna do inland application but after seeing processing time for inland and after hearing suggestions from another thread, I'm seriously having 2nd thoughts.

I didn't think I could stay in Canada and file outland application but now I know others have done it.

I also thought the only way to maintain legal status while outland application is in progress is to leave and then reenter.

If I could file visitor status extension application, I think I will file outand. Otherwise I'll probably just file inland. I can't afford to take the risk of not being allowed back in because of the kid.

I see your questions were answered, but yes, he did stay with me the whole time his outland application was processing and he applied online to extend his visitor visa after 6 months. He did not leave Canada until we got his CoPR. Outland is definitely the way to go :)

I already filed inland application to sponsor my spouse with open work permit. CIC received it on 05 Sep 2014 but no letter for acknowledgement.
My Spouse study permit going to expired by the end of September. I know that she will get the implied status.
But to be on safer side i also applied for her visitor visa once her study permit expired to be on safer side. I also wrote them that she already applied for her sponsorship.

Is this wise to do it or i already make the mistake, Because i did not hear from them till now after 5 days of online filing the application.

Any advice in this regard after all the things done should be appreciated

Tink23 - Thanks so much for the confirmation!

Make sure you keep your status from expiring. Before your current status expires, apply to extend the visitor status.

Computergeek,

So it means CIC website suggests not to file outland application and remain in Canada. But it seems ok to do that according to underlying laws and regulations. Do I understand it right?

I think I'll be doing outland. I just wanna make sure it's definitely ok, not maybe ok. To me it's a bit odd to apply to immigrate here but wait for the approval right here in the country. I love the idea. It just doesn't seem too logical to me.

It's absolutely OK. I did it, many others have done it. The CIC website is incorrect in this area, unfortunately, as many people go Inland that don't need to do so.

Thank you for the reply. No we did not live together that is why I need to go back home and marry him. After the wedding, can I sponsor him immediately? thank you

CIC doesn't send letters of acknowledgement.

The published data on the CIC website indicates they are working on applications from late August 2014. So it doesn't seem surprising that they haven't responded. Even if it is within the 10 days shown for processing time, nobody will look at your application for another 5 days.

THAN HOW WE CAME TO KNOW THAT THEY ACCEPT IT AND ITS UNDER PROCESS. ANY COMMENTS ABOUT VISITOR VIDA TOO. THANKS IN ADVANCE

The only way to know if they received it is through tracking your parcel, and paying for signature on delivery. After thats it is just a waiting game until they send you some correspondence. Everyone goes through the same thing.

Why do you post your comments in many different places? One place should be sufficient for someone to answer you.

When I looked it says they are working on applications from July 24, 2014. Where did you see August?

If you visit CIC website and search for processing time and look for inland visitor visa it states 25 august 2014 not July 24.

I apologise for it but some time no one respond to it that why I posted twice. I will take care about it. But no one answer me that what you recommend they will issue my spouse visitor visa or not and update from your past experience.

Thanks in advance
