Hi...do I need to apply for a work permit together with the application if I want to work when I come up to Canada?

Does this mean I won't be allowed to work there if i haven't applied for a work permit?

Thanks...

abscott

Before you get PR, work permit is a must if you want to work. After you land as a PR, then you can work without any permits or restrictions.

you have to sent all yours and your husbands papers too ambasy and the will review your papers first and hopefully approved you to sponsor your husband then the sent his papers to canadian ambasy in his country..

Hi.. I just want to ask.. My husband lives in QUEBEC, but we've decided that we settle in Vancouver, and by the time I got my visa we will meet there and stay there for good because most of our relative are there.. Is it okey is if I wouldn't go to Quebec anymore? We already have our CSQ because it's a requirement..

Any suggestions and advise will be much appreciated.. Thank you...

I remember a similar case and their lawyer told them that it would be best if they stayed in Quebec until after the spouse lands. However, as far as I know, having the CSQ means you are allowed to move to Quebec, not that you have to.

Thank you for the response Leon.. Does it mean I have to go Quebec first before me and my husband move to Vancouver? Do I have to stay in Quebec for a few months first?

Like I said, some people were advised by their lawyer that it would be best if they did not move out of Quebec until after the PR had landed but personally, I do not think you would necessarily have to land in Quebec because spousal is a federal application.

However, if you want to be perfectly safe and avoid problems, you will land in Quebec and give the PR card address which is the Quebec address of your husband.

If he moves before you land and you decide to land in BC, you should make sure he is reachable by phone at the time you land because immigration may see a red flag that the sponsored spouse is landing in a province different from where her sponsor lives and giving an address which is different from the address they have on file. It may even be a good idea to go to the CIC website or for your husband to call the call centre and update the address with them before you land.

If I don't get the LMO in time can I just apply for a new work permit and say my employer is getting it. Can I still work?

No. That would be working illegally.

It's not required, but it's a good idea to have some form of proof to show you HAVE a job....
