through your husband the children can get their citizenship certificate I would start by that step. then once you've applied you can start putting all the documentation together for immigration.

I'm hoping for some help from those who have visited in Canada while doing outland sponsorship process application. I'm getting concerned about extending dh's visitor status. I'm assuming he can apply online from inside Canada but I just read the following:
Note: The Case Processing Centre receives large volumes of applications in the temporary resident categories each year. It is recommended that you apply at least 30 days before the expiry of your current document. However, you may want to apply in advance of this recommended period since processing delays vary. Contact the Call Centre at 1-888-242-2100 or check our current processing times.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5551ETOC.asp
And for the processing times I see it's 55 days! Strangely, only 24 days for paper submissions. Does he really have to apply 55 days before his 6 month period expires? Is there a down side to doing the paper route instead if that is a month faster?

I have some concerns about this process because dh never got his passport stamped when he entered so we cannot prove his entry date except by cell phone records and credit card records, which only show that he was in the U.S. then in Canada 4 days later (there is a 4 day gap in transactions/calls).

Hi again Blu_cat!

Once you have your renewed passport using your husband's last name that would be fine to send with the PPR, no need to send the old Passport.

:) Goodluck!
Thank you very much Christine08!The info helps alot!

There will be a record of dh's entry in the computer - they do scan passports on entry. It should not be an issue in applying for an extension.

As long as the application is received prior to expiration of the initial 6 month term, dh can remain on "implied status".

Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted ask you, can you land at any entry point in Canada even though you had earlier said on the application that you would go to, for example, Ontario.?

Comments are appreciated.

You can land anywhere, since that's not related to where you intend to reside. If you plan on residing somewhere else it can be an issue in some circumstances. However, under the Charter, once you are a permanent resident, you have the right to move anywhere within Canada (again, there may be penalties for doing so, for example if you entered into an agreement with a province as part of a provincial nomination.)

But where you process your landing paperwork, no, that doesn't matter at all. For example, suppose you flew to Canada from Hong Kong and entered Canada in Vancouver. You would process your landing paperwork in Vancouver and then continue on to your final destination, but you would do so as a permanent resident of Canada.

Our VO is New Delhi, My husband forgot to write that his UK visitor visa was refused in 2007, (Background Declaration Schedule A) Point 6.

But he wrote that his canada tourist visa was refused before marriage as he wants to give me surprise before marriage and also ticked in the point 6(d) YES. Should he resend the form also mentioning about his UK tourist Visa Refusal, because also he has stamp in the passport about UK.

He travelled many countries for business also travelled UK too, but just missed to write about this Uk refusal he had once.

Is this misrepresentation ? or can he resend new form also mentioning about UK and send to Canada or Delhi will they accept it !

still application is in canada(missi) for sponsor approval , file no. is not generated.

Anyone who can pls advise this is serious.

Open Work Permit

I am currently in Canada as a visitor. My wife holds a Permanent Resident visa in Montreal - QC and She has already applied to sponsor me . I was wondering if I could apply for an Open work Permit visa while I am waiting for the end of the process of my sponsorship application without first having a confirmed job offer by HRSDC or without having to obtain a CAQ from the MICC.

I am graduated in Business Administration and in Law in Brazil and I was working as a Administrative Manager in the Company of my family.

Hello guys!

My husband is sponsoring me from Quebec and we already submitted our application last June 04, 2012 and CPC-M received it last June 07,2012 and we received an AOR last July 31, 2012 my questions are:

1) Since my husband is from Quebec we need to have another application which is for provincial and when are we going to start it? Is it when the sponsor is approved?
2) Can we do both applications (Federal and Provincial) at the same time?
3) For how long will it take for the provincial (Quebec) application to finish?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks computergeek! I really appreciate that clarification, I was starting to stress about it.
