Hi guys!been reading this thread and I hope someone can help me with my concern..Posted this in feb 2012 thread but I think no one knows about this. Here's my concern

When my husband and I submitted our application last April 2012, i still used my single-surname..Since my passport is expiring on May 2013, my husband suggested that I should renew my passport and now, use his surname.Do i have to inform the embassy about my change of surname since some of the previous applicants said during the PPR, some VO asked for a passport with your husbands surname?or during the PPR I will just submit both passports?I' m afraid to inform them since i am now waiting for PPR and it may delay the application process. Please advice!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Hi;

I have a question. I hold a PR from 2008, i was in Canada after PR for an year, went to Singapore and now returned to Canada. Planning to apply for a spousal PR. One of the requirement is that the sponsor's passport page showing entry to Canada has to be shown. However, my passport doesn't have a stamp showing my entry to Canada (probably becoz I had shown my PR card which allows me to enter Canada). Now, what do I do for showing the entry stamp of my passport? Is it required?

Also, another question is.....after being away from Canada for almost 2 +years, have reached Canada on July 12th 2012. Planning to apply for spousal PR next week. Is there a cooling period required before sending the applications or can i send it right away??

Thanks a lot
Vee

DM- July 23rd,2012 - Passport received - Aug 13th,2012
This is for some very senior members...

We are a New Delhi Applicant filled our papers with more then enough proofs etc on Feb 8th. May 17th, we got the sponsor part approved and accordingly got the passport request on June 1. On July 23rd, our ECAS status changed from Application Received, Medical rcvd to a Decision Made This is how they have recently approved most of the Feb,2012 applicants where the case went straight from Application Rcvd to DM.

Most of the folks who got DM from ND around the same time as me have already got the Passports with COPR and the VISA. We have not got the passport back yet. Usually, ND is taking about 4-5 days to send back the Passport. ITs now over 15 days now for us and we have not got the passport back yet. We were happy to see the DM but since the passport has not come yet, its making me very worried.

The one thing which I am not seeing on ECAS is the showing up of Canadian city, province once it is approved. Is a DM without this means a rejection and hence taking longer then usual to return the passport etc? To be very honest, the way I have seen it is that if the CHC have any doubts, they call you for an interview and if still not satisfied then reject.

Do CHC reject go straight to a DM on ECAS without asking to come in for an Interview? Our case is very very straightforward, everyone from both families attended, we have known each other for 6 years, first marriage for both... provided ample proof (chats, phone bills, photos over six yeras, plane tickets, Honey moon pics, bills, facebook profile with marriage updates, proof of financial assistance sent to spouse, life insurance beneficiary doc, etc etc)

IS it possible that ND "forgot" to issue the VISA and COPR on the passport after DM and hence still no showing up of Canadian city, province and hence the passport has not been dispatched yet?

I have sent email enquiry to the office asking for the dispatch date of the passport if they have sent it as the case is now a DM..

I have an appointment at my MP office next week so that I could ask him to seek more status information from ND..

I have already asked for GCMS notes on July 17th...

Everything about my case was going fine in terms of timelines, dates, process, steps of approvals.. etc till DM.

The only misstep is not arrival of the passport yet! We have already contacted the near by post office to see if they got any package or tried a delivery and they are saying no... so I am not sure what is going on and if at all ND have even sent the passport with approval yet or if Not, then is this all signs of a rejection?

Any advice? thoughts?

I'd just wait until closer to the time your passport ends. It'll be less stress on both of you! Mine still has my maiden name, at the border, they just ask for your passport, and I usually give them my ID (License) as well and marriage certificate :)

You can switch to a visitor's visa if you're from a visa exempt country. Which VO are you applying through?

My husband doesn't have anything either, it'll be in their system, but take a photocopy of your PR card AND passport and send it. They can type in the numbers and see when it was scanned. You need to be in Canada for 2 of 5 years to retain your PR status, I'm not sure if there's a limit or not, but you, as a PR, cannot leave Canada for long periods of time.

Good Day

Hi everyone...

My Girlfriend is a PR but next year will be a citizen in Canada. She sponsored me as common law under conjugal relation-partner. I lived in the Philippines, single. I have know her since January 2010 when I was in Bahrain and she visited me in the Philippines on March 2011 when I came home and return back to Canada in April the same year. After a year we applied for this Sponsorship Conjugal Partner. Can we apply for this route?

here is our facts:

1. She was married before separated 12 years but have separation agreement notorized.
2. We only live each other for 1 month March-April 2011 at same address.
3. We have continuous communication like emails, chat,(yahoomail, Messenger and Skype) card, letters. Beneficiary both our names, will of testaments of both, photos of both of us and family members, letter of Two Statutory Declarations from friends/family including her employer, Income Tax included my name and sending me money monthly thru money transfer,
4. She had a divorce application in alberta waiting for approval\decision.
5. We can not get married because there is no divorce in the Philippines, she had no means to apply for annulment.
6. I can't go to Canada as well TRV will be refused because of lack of fund in my accounts but I have a land which was inherited to my parents which I reside till now.
7. She can't live with me in the Philippines because of her employer and she mortgage car and cannot left Canada for long because of her PR-Citizen requirement.

Are these are grounds that we applied for conjugal partner sponsorship? Any suggestion??

By "visa app" I assume you mean "permanent residency application" and not something else.

If you can clearly document that you have been living together for a year, then no, you can apply in the common-law partner category. If you cannot clearly document that you have been living together for a year, then you would be better off waiting until after you have married. Married couples do not require any period of cohabitation, although you do have to demonstrate the relationship is genuine.

Courier. I used FedEx, others use UPS. They get it there, you get a real signature, and the chance it will get lost along the way is very slim.

Good luck!

Something to keep in mind then is that you need to ensure you do whatever is necessary to keep your health coverage. The rules for that vary by province, so check with the Alberta folks what is required and make sure you do that.

With respect to switching to visitor status, you use the same form that you would use to extend your work permit. But you indicate you wish to change to visitor status. Document that your application is in process - copy of the receipt, copy of the application if you have one. Send that all in along with your $75 BEFORE your 7 September expiration date - they have to receive it before your current work permit expires. Keep a copy of your application and fee receipt because those establish that you are here on "implied status". Note that because you have an INLAND application the rules strongly favour you - CIC is supposed to allow you to remain in Canada while your application is in process according to their own processing manuals. Thus, I wouldn't expect you will have any problems.

Further, with a December 2011 date, I'd expect you'll hear something in late October/early November (11 months) at which point you would receive AIP (that should ensure health coverage as well) and if you did not apply for an open work permit in your original application, it means you could apply for an OWP at that point in time. While it's illegal to discriminate on the basis of your pregnancy, it may still be difficult to find employment.

Right now CIC says it takes 24 days for paper visitor applications and 55 days for online applications. While it shouldn't matter in your case, I'd suggest doing an online application if you can, because that would take you (through implied status) to the beginning of November, at which point you should be receiving AIP in any case.

Good luck!
