And to answer your question, I met my spouse after I become Citizen, we dated for about 2 years and then decided to get married.
I asked because if you became common-law by residing together before you became PR and didn't declare her - big trouble. Not the case so no issue.

And we lived together for about 6 months in Canada before leaving the country. So i will also mention that.
That's a positive.

Also, i forgot to mention one important thing, she has her Visitor visa valid until 2028, so
i will also mention that we might come to Canada closer to our finalizing/end stage of our application to settle down in Canada ahead. Hope this plan also support the intent to return.
Also a positive. Note though intent to return is mostly about you.

Glad to hear it. Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable advice.

Just a silly question to ask, I dont see the online portal has any Intent to return section under supporting docs. In that case should I upload it in others section? Or any other specific section would apply?

You might want to consider moving to Canada first before submitting the application since your spouse can visit you. Your spouse won't be able to work immediately, but intent to return will not be a problem, and if you can get a job upon returning to Canada, having a steady income will help with the spousal support requirement. You can still do it the way you've outlined here, but I think moving to Canada and getting a job first gives you better chances.

Apologies for the late reply, and thank you for the feedback. But, since we started gathering documents as outland already and almost finalizing our application, it wont make sense now to go to Canada first, get a job, etc and collect the documents all over again before submitting the application. This will take a lot of time.

Therefore, we decided to apply from our home country and provide as much evidences we can to satisfy the need for the intent to return.
Since we left the country only last year, to get married in our home country, to travel, to spend some time with our families etc and now applying for my wife’s PR to be able to get back to Canada as soon as possible. This hopefully gives the officer an idea of our story and satisfies the intent.

Whatever you want to do. Good luck. And FYI, you can still apply as Outland from within Canada.

Note, if one or both of you return to Canada before the PR status is approved, notify IRCC and advise them of change of address (to within Canada) ASAP.

The best evidence of intent to return is actually having returned. The 'landing' can be done from within Canada (if applicant in country).

Also be prepared: IRCC often comes back to applicants several months into process and asks again for (more) proof of intent. The meaning of this is (basically) to check that you have continued to prepare; easy enough to respond with more info if you have continued to prepare.

If IRCC comes back with additional proof of intent to return, in that case, I will come to Canada with my wife and update them of our Canadian address, flight tickets, entry stamps etc then hopefully it should be enough, and finally do the virtual landing for my wife once approved

Hello, did anyone recently apply for inland spousal sponsorship? I would like to know how many weeks it is taking to get AOR after submission. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi there!
I applied March 16th 2025 inland and people who applied March 1st -3rd just got their AOR a few days ago. Typically it's 1-2 months right now (although I've heard of some people technicaly never recieving the AOR- but after est. 45 days they can check app status in PR tracker and they will find the AOR was sent and they can make the PR tracker account).

Hope that helps!

I'm not a lawyer but depending on the convictions, I believe she could be not eligible/ indismissable. This would 100% be a question for a lawyer and I would recommend lawyering up if she goes forward to sponsor.
