Hi All,

I sent out my husband's inland sponsorship application at the beginning of this month which was received by CIC-vegreville on January 13, 2014. How long does it take to know our has been approved in principle? My husband's work permit will be expired on August 29. Do you think we have time to apply the open work permit?

Thanks

If your husband is on a normal closed work permit, as long as you included an OWP application with the inland application he is covered by implied status. Otherwise, CIC posts 11 months for AIP, so you would get approval around November. If you decided to wait for AIP to file for the work permit, then he is not covered by implied status and must stop working when his work permit expires (unless he can obtain renewal some other way) and you should figure January 2015 for the OWP.

@ Rob_TO thanks for your response, i was sure i understood you wrong but eh who said you can't dream about it? :P
i won't be granted a TRV in these conditions anyway, i heard about too many failed attempts and not enough approvals..

Usually 60 days - your letter requesting the Passport will state the deadline to have it sent in.

I've also heard that some people are accepted. Just depends if you can show ties to your home country. There is no harm in trying, and worst case if it's rejected all you are out is the processing fee and it doesn't have any impact on the PR application.

i plan on applying outland from nigeria. i just looked at the processing times and it says 35 days for initiall assesment. i'm just wondering what happens after initial assesment? do you land few months after that or wait untill the second stage is done?? the second stage says 15 months for accra ghana wich is d visa office i will be using.

Nothing really happens after the initial assessment - except that the file is passed on to the local office for further processing.

The visa isn't issued until the second stage is done. And you can't land in Canada as a PR until you have the visa.

Yes you can apply to sposor your wife from USA. Consult the CIC website, it says you can apply from outland but you have to convince the CIC in your appliction that when your wife will get immigration visa, you both will move to Canada.

thank u so much, there is only one for I can and it does not say inland or out land? and in the documents check list no.17 says original "option C print out" what does it mean? what should I submit? I live in U.S

For Option C call Canada Revenue Agency at 1800-959-8281.

For applying immigration for your wife you have to go to following link and download all forms and guides for sponsor and applicant. All the information are there.

Look at the Sponsor Residency Declaration in Form 1344 and then you will understand you can sponsor your wife from USA.

It will take long time and patience to read all the forms and guides to properly fillup the forms. If you can not give time or if you are not capable to understand those then I will suggest you to employ an immigration lawyer.

All the research and enquiries that I had done pointed to no. But there ARE members on the site who have received TRV's even without huge ties, stating their dual intent or rather that they had no intention of undermining the PR application by overstaying their TRV. Even one said they had tried TRV two times prior to PR application with no success before a successful third application after PR application. I was told no chance for TRV by my constituency worker and not only that, but that if I failed any further application in any category would be red flagged. This is not true. You can see how long my timeline is. I really regret not trying this avenue. Don't be as disparaged as I was. And good luck
