Hi Rob,thanks for the reply!
So does it not really matter where we request it goes to?
No it does matter. In most cases, as long as you qualify then CIC "should" send the application to the visa office you request. I'm just saying that there are several cases i've read on this site, where CIC sent the app to the office based just on their citizenship. If you really want a certain office for processing, it's probably good to also include a nice little cover letter stating this and explaining why.

We are looking to send it ASAP but are worried that If we send it now from within canada, they won't have anyway of knowing we are moving to Australia will they?

We both have one year working visas for Australia, but we won't be over there for a few months and don't want to wait that long to apply....

Basically we were just going to send it off now,but shouldn't there be some way we have to let them know that we are moving over there?

It seems like it would be a lot easier to request that it's sent to London, but I'm afraid I'd get called for an interview and be on the other side of the world!
Thanks for all the info, maybe we're just over worrying?but what would the best route for us be?
I really don't know the details of requesting a visa office based on residency, when you haven't actually moved to that country yet. Others would need to advise here. My best guess is that if you aren't living there at the time you mail the app, CIC will not consider it for processing (though don't know for sure).

At the end of the day, even if you apply though London the odds of having an interview are VERY low unless you have some noticeable red flags in your application.

For address, you can change your mailing address online at any time, no matter where the app is being processed. So even if its it London they can still see your mailing address is Australia, and that's where they will mail your final COPR to at the end. That is the only snail mail ever needed, and all other correspondence with CIC should be through email.

Hello all! I had a question that some of you may be able to answer.

My wife is currently a Permanent Resident in the United Kingdom. She is able to apply for Citizenship in the UK on December 4th. We have our Permanent Resident application for Canada in London and we are waiting patiently for the DM. Anyways, I was wondering if she does get the Citizenship in the UK, does she need to notify CIC of the change from Permanent Resident to Citizen in the UK?

She has spent the required amount of time in the UK and does not want to pass up on the chance to get British Citizenship before moving to Canada. Thanks for any insights.

Shouldn't make any difference to CIC.

Howdy all!new to the forum,I've been using it mostly to search questions etc. and it's really useful!
So here's my first question of many that I'm gonna bug you all with ;D

I am currently living in canada with my canadian partner.i am on a visitors visa and we are sending in our application soon.
So my situation is,
We will be applying for an "Outland" application.my home country is ireland, which makes London my local embassy.so normally that's where we should send our application right?
But,we are moving to Australia in a couple of months to work and travel for a years before returning to Canada.

My question is,where should we send our application?I would think London as it is my country's local embassy, but I'm worried that I might get called for an interview in London while living in Australia?
Can someone please help us out and tell us where to apply!
Thank you all in advance!!any help is greatly appreciated,

Karl
Everyone applies through Mississauga, ON, Canada. Everyone MUST send their applications there to start off for sponsorship approval. After sponsorship approval the file is sent to the appropriate VO (Australia, London, etc). You can make a request for a particular VO (China, if you will), but if you do not meet the requirements to use that VO, they will pick the appropriate one for you.

So, this is the thing. Not only the "legally admitted for one year" rule applies. CIC may consider that a temporary one year work and travel arrangement (holiday visa, perhaps?) may not be enough to satisfy the requirement and they might end up sending your file to London. But hey! They may actually think it is enough... In any case, once in Australia, it would not hurt to try asking to be processed in Australia. The worst that can happen is that they will send the file to London.

Awesome!thanks Rob and Cempjwi!
I guess we will just request London to avoid complicating things. We were just worried we would do something wrong and created huge mess for ourselves and have our application sent back or something :D
But thanks for your awnsers guys!you cleared it up for us and we're not worried about it anymore!thanks again!

When you say "bad credit" do you mean that you have some debts? Or are you bankrupt?

Manila requests the passport at the start of the process (rather than at the end when they are ready to issue the visa). You likely still have several months to wait. I would guess 3-6 months. The next step is that you wait until you hear from Manila again.
