sorry, didnt understand your first question. I thought you were going to apply after your marriage.

no problem , yeah we applied on February 2012 , he had interview ocotber 18 but we are still waiting for the embassy , even tyhey told him he passed that interview , i am waiting for the email to tell us what is next

I beg to disagree. I formerly had a genuine marriage end in less than two years. People change, sometimes quickly if the wrong birdy gets in their ear.

In my opinion, this is more to protect Canadians from having to repay social assistance and discourage scammers. Rather than fix the problem, I think it will create more.

That contact can take 6-8 weeks from the date of the interview. It's only been a week and a half, you'll be waiting a little longer.

exceptions are always there.. but all of my friend (5 frns) move to canada after marriage within 9 months.. sure in ur care..there may be some problems of proof of genuine marriage,.. and 2 years before time period of immigration of spouse was 3-4 months.. now that is 9 months from india.. and depends on country,..

I just have a little concern, and any feedback would be appreciated. We applied for my spousal immigration in Dec. 2010. Since then, they haven't started doing any of the security, eligibility and criminality checks on my file. They haven't updated my updated PCC on my file either. It's 23 months since I applied, and my file is lying in WVR group since the last 4 months. The last time my file was reviewed was 4 months ago. Do you think it is normal considering that many applications in CHC-islamabad are being finalized in less than a year now. And what can I do about this situation? How can I make them start working on my application?

I checked Islamabad earlier today for someone and it was listed at 26 months.

You could email them if you wish, but according to published times on CIC's website, you're within normal time still.

Yes. The poster was asking about how long it would take for CIC to get back to them about finishing their file, nothing to do with marrying another person or anything of the like. They can say the interview was passed or not and still come back 6 weeks later and say we need more proof, yes. But it's still 6 weeks. It could be less, it could be more, but it averages at 6 weeks.

Whether your within processing time or not, 23 months is 1 long wait. I would for sure E-mail them, I know most people would. What is the worst that can happen? They will ignore you. 23 months is too long not to hear anything!!

Hello,

My Japanese wife and I are just finishing up our PR application. We have have 4 documents that need to be translated (old tohon before Japan switched to electronic, tohon before marriage, new tohon and marriage certificate).

We have no idea on how to get these translated. I have scanned them and sent them to a few online companies for quotes but have not heard back. Also, the guide states we need to provide certified copies of original document. How is this possible if we send scans to online companies?

Any information on this would be very helpful. Not sure if it helps, but we live in Halifax NS.

Once it goes beyond normal processing time, you have the option of going to Federal Court and requesting a Writ of Mandamus. This is a huge sledge hammer approach, but from what I can tell, doing so almost always causes CIC internal processes to kick into overdrive and complete the application prior to a potential hearing.

While I didn't have Mandamus, I experienced a similar overdrive situation.

Until that time, though, all you can do is keep monitoring your case and hope they start to process it.

Thanks for the input. The interesting thing is that the only two times when my file was reviewed at CHC was when we made an email enquiry through MP's office. So, by the look of it, they don't work if we don't email them. Evidence of the same is that my next BFD passed long ago in July, but my file was never reviewed on that date.

Hypothetically speaking, can we go for Mandamus before the 26 month mark is over, considering that we have evidence of negligence on their part?
