no updates for a while.
I submitted just 10 days before you did.So .......Submitted on May 7th (inland) and waiting. Fingers crossed.
Questions ...
1. The first AOR we receive, that is the AOR for the PA, correct?
2. PA wants to apply for OWP. Went on canada.ca and tried to understand what to do, it's a little confusing... If I understand correctly, after receiving the first AOR and application number, PA can create a new application, apply for Spousal OWP using this AOR, and then link this SOWP application to the Spousal PR application - is that how it works?
3. PA has an existing Closed WP (work environment getting increasingly toxic - best that PA moves off Closed WP soon) and due to IRCC's recent policies, PA has a visitor visa stamp valid for over 5 years and not the work permit stamp like how it used to happen ages ago. So if PA's OWP is approved, they won't have to re-apply for a stamp and they can still re-enter, correct?
What country? Any additional relevant information, like how common civil (court) weddings are vs religious?Hi All,
I’m planning to go back to my country of birth to do just a court wedding with my fiancée. I’ve know her for 5years but officially started dating her 3 years ago and it’s been long distance. I have visited her every year since 2021 and we got engaged when i visited in October last year. I plan on doing just the court wedding with few friends around In July. My parents would go do the necessary traditional rights in September in my absence. Just to clarify, is court wedding enough. I have substantial prove of the genuineness of the relationship, like regular financial support since 2021, flight tickets for each trip, social media chats, pictures of outings each time I visit. All for the photos, must my family members be in there? I know few of my friends and few of her family members would be present
Nigeria. Traditional, court and church weddings are common, but I am not a church person so i am not interested in church wedding. It just involves paying her dowry and maybe a little ceremony but I won’t be available for that physicallyWhat country? How do you mean your parents will do the traditional rites in your absence - what does this involve?
I am not an expert and so hesitate to say, but my guess is that if court weddings are common should not be a big issue.Nigeria. I should have added: given the civil wedding, will be VERY important you show time you have spent with your spouse physically, travels together, all of the supporting info to demonstrate it's a real relationship over the years before the wedding. (And you should spend time together after the wedding_)I am not an expert and so hesitate to say, but my guess is that if court weddings are common should not be a big issue.
The traditional ceremony: make sure that you do not refer to this as a proxy wedding. Note only that there was a ceremony your parents participated in (if I understood correctly).
Ah ok I'm just asking cause so many applications I have noticed got a pre arrival letter after the medical was completed.Still too early. Average processing time is 10 months.
You must be living in Canada to sponsor a spouse.I am a Canadian citizen and applying for spouse PR. I live in Usa. how can i answer below questions in PR application. IMM5533
1. Are you (the sponsor) a Canadian Citizen living outside canada? My answer was 'Yes' . How can i prove that i live with my family after they become permanent residents of Canada?
Incorrect. Canadian citizens can sponsor from abroad. They need to show intent to return to Canada, by presenting a brief plan to do so with some supporting evidence. You must be living in Canada to sponsor a spouse.
"Eligible sponsors must: be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. be at least 18 years old, live in Canada, or plan to return to Canada once your spouse or partner becomes a permanent resident of Canada."
