CIC only recognizes proxy marriages under certain conditions. If you fall under them, i would say you should disclose it and apply for your wife's sponsorship.

Does IRCC recognize marriages conducted by proxy, telephone, internet and fax?
No. We don’t recognize these types of marriages. If one or both parties are not physically present at the ceremony, we won’t recognize the marriage.

You may be exempt from this rule if:

Your application was received before June 10, 2015, or
You are a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. The marriage may be recognized if:
You could not be physically present at your marriage ceremony, because of travel restrictions related to your service,
the marriage took place outside of Canada, and
It was registered in a country where marriage by proxy is legal

thank you so much for your answer. None of the above actually applies to me. and we are not common in low. so, in this case, I do not have to disclose this and it won't be a problem? thank you again

Your proxy marriage is not legally recognized by IRCC, so no, you don't need to mention it.

Note that it will be faster and easier to marry your partner now and add her to your existing PR app than it will be to marry her after landing and sponsor her for PR.

Hi Guys,

I am a PR living in Canada for almost 3 years now and I am currently gathering information on the Spousal Sponsorship.

Do you guys know the latest timeline from start to end? I read a news that after December 2016, the process is much faster. Has anyone applied in Jan 2017?
I am planning to do an OUTLAND application and we are not yet married. I am figuring out an optimal way to sponsor and bring her along with me when we get married. Open to all suggestions. Please provide your inputs.
Apologize for my ignorance. This forum was a great help to when I applied for PR in 2013 and I hope it will help me again in this process.

Thanks in advance!

Assuming your wife's application will be processed through ND - find the ND thread for current timelines.

Once you're married, you'll be able to sponsor her (you can't start the process until you're married). Inland will only be an option if she can secure an approved TRV and come to Canada. Both of you need to be physically in Canada in order to apply inland. Otherwise you would sponsor her outland. Note that you must be physically living in Canada when you submit the outland application and must continue living in Canada while it's processed. Since you are a PR, you cannot sponsor your wife while outside of Canada.

Friends please advice on the below scenario - U guys are all great pointing me always in the right direction.

I just became a Canadian citizen last month and I will be officially divorced in May as per the court. Already I have been separated from last year Feb 2016.

Is it OK to marry someone who is also a divorcee from India and sponsor a PR application immediately ?

Will it raise any doubts to the visa officer that divorce in may, marriage in June and PR application in July ?

Since the PR process is so long can I sponsor a Visitor Visa ? Will that fail or raise any doubts or show an urgency in coming here ???

Need your advise or suggestions on how to go with this......Apologies for my ignorance...

Thanks.

I already apply for Spousal File and CIC received it on 18th April 2017 but I didn't received any AOR, any idea when I will get it? How many days CIC took to give us AOR?

Thank you in Advance Smiley

Hello Friends
My BG check was started on 22nd Apr but no update after that, how many days usually NDVO take to do DM or any other update?
Thanks

Hello Everyone,
I asked this questions before but got no response. I tried to search everywhere on this site but couldn't find anything (maybe this post is so long that I could have easily missed it).
Hence if this question has been answered before, please accept my apologies. I just need some help here.

My situation:
Me and my fiance are getting married in August. She will be coming to Canada 2 weeks before the wedding on visitor visa (multiple entry). After the wedding, we'll file her inland PR application.

Question Arise:
The thing is that we both are going to Mexico for a week for our honeymoon and her inland PR application will be filed after that. When she comes back, is there any reason that she could be denied entry? She has a multiple entry visitor visa. Does her intention seem dodgy because in the end we are gonna file for her inland PR application.
And if it does seem dodgy, what can we do to make it seem fair?

Please help, I've been stressing over this fact for a long time now.

Thanks,

Hello there,
I am a Feb 2017 sponsor.
Can my wife undergo medical exam without it being requested by IRCC?
My wife called the local panel physician and was informed that she needs an IME# before she can book an appointment. Is that true?

Thank you

No upfront medical can be done anymore. Panel physicians would be looking for the IRCC request sent to the PA.

yes, the rules have been changed. You don't need to send it upfront so you have to wait for them to ask for the medical.

What I can say is... it's always up to the CBSA offer whether to allow/deny entry. Is she returning with a departure ticket also?

Yes, she has a departure ticket back to home.
