The answer is right there in the guide...

Question 3 - Write the total number of family members included in your application. This includes yourself, the principal applicant, and any family members, whether they will travel with you to Canada or not.

Note: Do not include the sponsor or family members that are already permanent residents or Canadian citizens. Individuals that will not be included in the undertaking should not be included in this total.

Family Members - An applicant’s closest relatives, in the context of an application. It is defined as a spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and their dependent children.

Hello, I have a question About the IMM5406 Additional family information
I'm sponsoring my wife, do I as the sponsor also have to fill out the "IMM5406 Additional family information" form?

Thank you

Hello Friends,

I have sponsored my wife when I had no job, recently I have got a job, do you think I should update them? If yes, what is the procedure to update such information?

Many thanks in advance!!

Send a case-specific enquiry, I don't know if MyCIC has the option to update.

No need to update them about finding a job or losing one .

Hey folks,

Couple of questions around this spouse sponsorship:

1. Do I have to be married legally for certain time frame before applying?

2. I am in Canada and my would be wife is in India, so how much time does it take?

1. no, there is no timeframe for sponsoring a spouse.

2. more than likely 10-12 months. to know for sure, look in the New Delhi threads for what the current trends are for that visa office.

Just curious. Can I do this?

Get my wife in Canada on Visitor visa/temporary resident visa and then apply for sponsorship.

Wonder if she can work?

Just to further add, I am at post AOR stage, and really confused if to get married now and include now or sponsor her later once I get my PR?

Realistically which is a better route?

Did you inform IRCC you were married when you applied for PR? This is necessary or you can't sponsor her ever in the future.

Assuming she's already been included in your app as non-accompanying, It's probably better to add her now, then you don't have to go through this whole process again.
