Guys i need help
On the new consent form on SECTION C who would sign it? Would it be me Principal applicant or my sponsor who's going to request for the notes

Hello everyone,

I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my Chinese wife who I met in university in Canada and have lived together with in China for the past 2 years.

-My sponsorship application was passed on April 14th, 2016 in Mississauga and sent to Hong Kong SAR
-AOR 2 was received on April 28th, 2016
-On July 11th, we received a request for an official translation for her Chinese police certificate which wasn't originally included. The request said "The above information/documents must be received by August 10th or a decision concerning your application will be made based upon the information already submitted." We promptly got a official translation and sent it in to the office. The delivery company had troubles the first time it was sent out for delivery but it was marked as delivered after it got sent out a second time (July 18th). I was concerned as to whether or not it has been received at the right location so I sent a message through the web app describing the situation but have still not received a reply.

We have 2 questions for all of you good people who may be of assistance:

1. Based on our application history and that of others in similar situations, can anyone give us an idea of what to expect next or maybe a ballpark amount of "waiting time" that we likely have remaining?

2. Since both of us didn't renew our work contracts in China and we are somewhat in a period of limbo, would we be able to travel to Canada on a temporary visitor visa for my wife even though she applied as a family member living "outside Canada"? Would this complicate or jeopardize her application in any way? If in fact there will be a lot more waiting time, it would be nice for us to start looking for a suitable apartment and potential work opportunities (want to reduce the "Mom's basement" time upon arrival in Canada :P)

We really appreciate your time and concern.

Hi

CIC rarely if ever confirms the receipt of documents.

Order GCMS notes to see if it was recieved.

You can apply for a TRV anytime, it won't affect the PR app.

Thank you for your reply.

If we did go to Canada with her on a TRV, would she be required to re-enter Canada as a permanent resident if the application was accepted (Fly Canada->China then China->Canada)? Or would we simply be able to mail the passport to the Hong Kong office from Canada, receive it back and be done?

You would either schedule a landing appointment with CIC and attend in Canada or "flagpole" by driving to the nearest border and telling US customs you are flagpoling to land as a PR. They will turn you back around to Canada and she lands as PR. I recommend driving to the border as scheduling a landing appointment takes a lot longer.

If she's in Canada she will send her passport to Ottawa.

So just to clarify even though our application is to sponsor a family member living "outside Canada" and the office processing the application is Hong Kong, we would simply be able to send her passport to the Ottawa visa office? In that event would we notify the Hong Kong office that we are sending her passport to the Ottawa office or would it be internally coordinated?

Yes.

When she receives the passport request there will be instructions on what to do if she's in Canada.

This sounds like the thing to do then. Thank you so much for your help.

One last thing - If she was called to do an interview would we be able to have it at the Ottawa location, or would she need to fly to Hong Kong?

Hong Kong.

If you have a straight forward application and a strong relationship profile the chances of an interview are low.

You could also bring her to Canada on a TRV before submitting the PR app and still apply outland. You don't have to be outside of Canada to apply outland.

Hello room,

If I don't have notice of assessment (T4) what do I submit as proof of fund for spousal sponsorship?

You can send your paystub and get an employment letter.

Also, as per CIC instructions in the checklist, you need to provide an explanation why you do not have T4 ;)

Read page 2 of 2 - 17/18 and 19

Straight forward cases:\

-no dependants
-no previous marriages
-no big age gap
-no big cultural gap
-no criminal records
etc.
