Re: SPOUSAL Sponsorship PAKISTAN @ London Visa Office

I will appreciate if someone can answer it.

Does passport has to be valid for at-least 6 months when you land in Canada as immigrant?

Canada do not enforce the six-month rule. Must have Valid VISA.

Re: SPOUSAL Sponsorship PAKISTAN @ London Visa Office

Is it normal if I haven't heard anything back from LVO yet. I got an update on Ecas on October 28th saying "Medical results have been received". I see some people have gotten DMs even though they applied after me. I applied on August 5th 2015.

I think no one can authorize anyone to submit the passport on anyones behalf you can authorize some one to pickup with written authorization but to submit the passport holder must do it themselves. You canverify this by calling the Gerry's office.

Hi CanadaSMS,

The funny thing is that they accepted the submission from the authorized person but stated that unless the husband or wife or someone closer would be able to retrieve the passport.

Re: SPOUSAL Sponsorship PAKISTAN @ London Visa Office

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone is well :) I am a University of Toronto full-time student taking OSAP. I want to sponsor my spouse. I know that there is no income level required per se, but you do have to convince them as to how you would take care of your spouse. I have not been employed since I have been full-time (this is my last year). I will graduate hopefully this year and either start medical school or begin to work. I will get an HBSc degree which has a 97% success rate when finding a job (its on the university stats page). However, on the spouse form is asks for the income from the past 12 months, which in my case will only be $240. It won't be 0 since I worked as an Immigration Officer on Elections Day. But 240 is also not significant. I live with my parents and they pay rent, food, bills etc. I pay my tuition using OSAP and also bursaries and scholarships. My main point is that I know there is no concrete income requirement per se, but you do need to prove to them as to how you will support your spouse. I would greatly appreciate advice on this especially from people who successfully sponsored their spouse while being in my position. Thanks everyone!

We applied on 15th June, still no DM, there are people they applied before me; they are still waiting; its case to case basis, some cases are strongly represented in CIC point of view, some are less, like mine case, even thought CIC didn't say our relationship is not genuine, they(CIC) didn't even ask a single question from our relationship; but still asked "intent to reside" crap thing. We gave the reply by email on 9th December 2015, and by courier the packaged reached on 14th December 2015, and still waiting. The waiting game continues. :)

Many thanks ahs. I am much satisfied now after your reply with my son's citizenship certificate application. Very fortunate to read that you have personal experience of making your baby's citizenship certificate and limited validity passport. Did you apply for LVP after your spouse got the immigrant visa or you applied before? Please share.

My scenario is, I have applied for my wife's PR in early September 2015 and hopeful to get it within 1-3 months as per time line of forum members. I have a 13 months old son for whom I will apply for LVP. My wife went to Consulate of Canada in Karachi and got the requirements of LVP. I am now thinking to apply for LVP for my son, but undecided whether I should wait until my wife gets her immigrant visa or I should apply before? Please guide.

Any forum member with similar experience please share your thoughts. Many thanks.

U don't need to wait untill your spouse get ppr as I didn't wait for my ppr also it's better to have the LVP ready. Also we only provided travel itinerary to canadian high commission islamabad as my kids didn't have pakistani passport so no travel document was available. I our case they took about 3 months for LVP but some docs were missing so it might have caused delays in our case.

Its better to get a job first and then apply irrespective of your past income (which really doesn't matter). There are fields in the form where you have to show whom you are living with in Canada and you can show that your parents helped you financially also. A small affidavit from your father to you attested by a notary officer in Canada can prove that for you.

But you should research more if OSAP is not considered same as Government assistance.

Check with travel agent too, when booking tickets. Some countries require passports to have at least 6-month validity.
Why not get a new/fresh passport now before visa issuance?
