You need to definitely to look into that. I think most of OWPs get restrictions - you can look up online what restrictions there are exactly. One of the restrictions is medical field. That's what I've on my OWP. I think even if you sent the medical exam it would have come with such a restriction. I suppose people like teachers or doctors have to go through a Canadian approved course/training to obtain sort of a license to be able to perform such a job. It's just my guess and things that I overheard.
in her case, she has already done all of the relevant licensing exams, so she has almost all of the qualifications required to practice as a pharmacist here...outside of needing a few weeks of practical experience...which is what we were hoping the open work permit would help with....but now it seems that it may not be as useful as we thought...

Same exact instance here, all the way up to paying the $155 a few weeks after submitting everything, then printing the receipt and mailing it to Vegreville with identifying info and having the application returned to me anyway. I too am looking for clarification on the number of weeks from resubmission to OWR receipt.

In reference to people saying it moves you back to square one, I try not to take what people on the forum say for fact unless they've personally had it happen to them, so here's another individual looking for firsthand knowledge on this issue! Our timelines are close, so here's hoping it all happens sooner rather than later.
We're in the same boat. PR application received Sept 14, OWP returned at the end of November. We resubmitted with the correct fees on November 30th to Vegreville. We're reaching the 4 month mark next week, so here's hoping. If resubmitting the fees reset the clock, that would be pretty devastating. We're struggling on one income and we've been debating staying the course with inland, because we're getting down to the emergency of emergency budgets. I just wish the fees page had been much more explicit and clear about the breakdown, especially since this seems to be a common mistake. I believe we've actually overpaid now.

I suppose time will tell. Some of the forums can be doom and gloom about inland applications (for example: we had little problem with traveling for the holidays, when most advice would have you believe that it's impossibly risky), so here's hoping that for once something will go right with this process.

Hi guys!
I actually submitted spousal in-land application and my OWP on 08/01/2018, but I simply can not find the thread for the inland applications for 2018. I have a few basic questions sorted out and to confirm a couple of things, and I hope you guys can help me!

As mentioned, I've submitted everything on the 08th, through tracked Canada Post, and it is delivered/received on the 9th. It seems that the AOR would be received in 1 to 2 months, right? I've tried linking my OWP and my application online, but nothing comes up; is this a sign already that something in my OWP is wrong/incomplete? I did all the payments correctly ($255).

My visitor visa status is expiring this 31st of January, and after multiple calls to the CIC and consulted a lawyer at one point, I do not have to extend my visa as I've submitted my application, giving me the implied status - is this all correct?

I'm really nervous about all of this so please some clarification (or re-confirmation) would really help me calm down!! Thank you so much in advance

Such a pity - and I hate to spread more gloom and doom but I'm 99.99% sure that having the OWP app returned in full does reset the clock. It was devastating for us also as I'm a mum of 3 under 4 and have had to work in this time we are waiting for my husband's work permit. He misses working and I miss being home with my babies. It is a waiting game and there is no correspondence or updates from CIC which makes it frustrating. But it's all temporary. Stick through it and we'll all come out better on the other end! xx

You won't be able to link your OWP until you receive AOR (most likely) which won't be for another 8 or so weeks. If they go by the date that your application arrived at the CIC office, you'll have implied status. Though I'm not sure if they go by that date or by the date you receive AOR... if the latter is the case then I would highly recommend applying for an extension on your visitor visa, as if it is expired before your application is received then your OWP will not be approved until AIP (approval in principal), which is near the end of the PR process.

AOR is nearer 2 months currently. I don't think you can link anything until you get the AOR. You have implied status as long as your application is complete and not returned which you wont know for 6-8 weeks, so to be on the safe side you should extend visitor status,, people have reported in the same situation as you that as long as you get AOR then that fee will be refunded as they wont process the visitor extension.

So just to confirm what I'm understanding based on your replies, if my application is returned to me after my visitor visa status expires, I won't be able to get the OWP until the AIP, which is the end of the PR process. What would happen if they do return my application, would my implied visitor visa status expire/not applicable anymore?

Seems like I have no choice but to extend my visa wooo

Yes, that's right - if your application is returned for any reason and you visitor visa expires before you resubmit then you will not have implied status, you will be out of status. If I were in your position I would definitely apply for an extension, it's too risky! Otherwise you would have to apply for restoration of status if you did have anything returned and lost status. That would only cause more delays

CIC is really making me nervous. I spend maybe 1-2 hours a day just checking my profile to see if anything ahs been updated. I also bug my husband and ask him to check his email and junk folders.
