Hey our inland Application was received on SEPTEMBER 22, 2017
And I just received yesterday the APR letter --- I am a bit confused.
I thought I am already approved long time ago as a applicant - as I received my OWP in January 2018,
so I thought my Sponsor and me we are good.
Medical was done on May 2018 and passed.

I am surprised that they tell me that I met the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence
as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.

And telling me that I can apply for OWP and make sure my status stays valid during the processing time.
They say our Permanent Resident Application is not yet approved. They still have to do background checks.
I thought they already did that last year when I send the Background Declaration IMM 5669

They should better send me now the PR approval letter :)
I am waiting since SEPTEMBER 2017. Thats 14month.

Somebody knows what the next step is?

Why does it say my action is required? Which action?

Relax, it's a good thing! That's AIP or approved in principal. You get OWP before you're approved and for people who are out of status when they apply and can't get OWP 4 months after application is received, they're eligible for work permit after AIP which is what the letter means.
You're close to the end of the process. If your sponsor is already approved, then you're just waiting for landing appointment now. Your sponsor will receive an email saying they're eligible as sponsor. There is a chance you don't get that email, but you can check sponsor's side on ECAS to see if it says decision made.

My application is Inland, I am already in Canada.

Another questions - I was planning to go to my Country in Europe during the Christmas/New Years Season. I have a valid passport and OWP.
Am I allowed to leave as I am so close to the the Final decision ?
What do I have to do when the decision has been made? :)

Yes I know you're inland, but it's still called a landing appointment, but it'll be at a local CIC office.
If you get a landing appointment soon and you do land, then your OWP will be void since you're a PR and you won't be able to travel until you receive your PR card which seems to be taking 1-2 months. Unless you go to the states and cross the border with a personal vehicle, in which case you can travel with the document you'll receive at landing (your COPR). You could reschedule your landing appointment if you want but I have no idea how that's done or how much you can delay it by.

Hi all,

It's been 14 months and I just realized a possible reason that might cause the delay of my application.
During my application, I left Canada twice. The first time was three weeks with my sponsor, and the second time I spent four months to visit my family by myself and worked with a research group in my home country .

I just read on the forum that as the PA, I'm not advised to leave Canada. Can this be a serious issue? I have valid student visa so I have no problem returning to Canada, but I am now really really concerned.

I thought my case would be otherwise very simple and I don't know what else can cause the delay...
I came to Canada since the age of 18 and met my sponsor here. We got married after two years of dating and sent the PR application a year after marriage. Now I'm 23 and I'm finishing my last year of university, while my sponsor is 31 years old and he's working. Could the age difference and our occupation be a red flag to the CIC agent as well?

Thank you!

I personally do not think that travelling is an issue as long as you have a status in Canada.

Age it’s never an issue if both are older than 18 years old and the relationship is authentic.
Rejection for age difference would be kind of selective. I don’t think it’s the case.
I traveled many times and never had problem We even asked our lawyer and he said it’s fine, it’s part of life in couple. I understand your worry but consider also that if something it’s going wrong it’s maybe on their side. I say it because it doesn’t make sense that somepeople get PR in faster times that others. Looks like nothing makes sense when it comes to PR applications.

12 working days has passed since my husband and I sent the web form and guess what? NO News from CIC.

Contacted MP, we had an appointment talked about the situation (20 months waiting) they say the’ll call next day with an answer. They didn’t.

We called today to ask what’s going. The asistant of MP said he could talk with CIC agents and they also don’t know what could be happening. But they need 10 more working days to look. I mean.... are they fu&king joking over there?

Thank you very much. It is the fact that I spent four months outside Canada in one trip scared me. I called CIC before and they told me that they do work on applications in the order of date received, but some cases are complicated and might take longer.

Other agent even told me that since in my case, it's already over 12 months, there's no urgency anymore, and they can take whatever time they like to process my file. Felt like once it's overdue, there's no deadline for them and the waiting game is endless ....

Hello guys. I am posting my question again.

Yesterday marks our one year, and weird enough my husband (the applicant) just received a letter saying that the application is transferred to the local office in Edmonton for further assessment of his eligibility.

Those who experienced that can you please help me understanding why it was transferred, and how long this will take?

Thank you

Surprise I got the appointment per email for December 11th.
My flight to leave Canada and visit my family is on December 17th.
Does that mean I can not leave the country?
I mean I have a valid Passport from my country of origin, and its a European country which dont require any Visas to re-enter Canada.
There wouldn't be a reason not to let me in again...

Or is it forbidden to travel after the interview until you get the PR card?
