I am inland and my background check started one week after they received my schedule A in April. Mine is still in process. It is exactly one month since the check started.

I am still waiting for Sponsor approval as well. I am a March 2017 applicant.

I called cic and they told me the reason why background check is taking so long is because they are waiting for feedback from RCMP and CBSA. Once they receive that info, then it will be completed.

I also asked about the Sponsor approval part. They told me that there is no specific time for it to come. Some ppl get it early and some ppl can get it towards the end of the process.
March 2017 applicant? the process takes roughly 13 months for the entire application to be completed. You're well within timeframe as they're currently working on April 2016.

Thank you. We are in the same situation.
We called CIC and it was a technical error. They have been waiting for our Schedule A and PCC for 6 weeks... What a crock of... anyways, we uploaded it via the webform. If you suspect that you should have received a Schedule A and PCC request, you should call them!

hello
I sent my spousal sponsorship on 10th April 2017 to CIC but they sent it back.. saying missing country specific requirements.. can anybody suggest what are country specific requirements for India...
Look on this page and put in the correct things for your situation
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

For a standard inland spousal sponsorship I found the following things from India..

India – Instruction(s) for documents
  • Birth certificates issued in this country: If a birth is registered late, include the original baptism certificate and other original documents establishing identity such as:
    • Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
    • Voter's ID card.
  • For divorces obtained in this country, please submit a complete divorce petition, a judgement and a Final divorce decree.
  • Identity documents for adopted child with Indian passport: If any child on your application was adopted through customary law and not through courts, you must provide an explanation and proof of the adoption, such as:
    • Original adoption deed;
    • Photographs of the adoption ceremony;
    • Power of attorney documents, if applicable;
    • Evidence of contact and financial support with adoptive parents;
    • Letter of no objection from the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. The guidelines which outline CARA requirements can be found at: www.cara.nic.in
    • For international adoptions, the competent authority of the child's residence and province of intended destination must declare in writing that they approve of the adoption as conforming to the Hague Convention.

Hi
I am a February 2017 applicant. I got my OWP on April. I had a post a couple of weeks ago about my problem with having a condition on my OWP that I couldn't 'work in health service field occupations". This is just FYI incase somebody will have the same situation (to save you time, worries and effort!) as me. I took an upfront medical exam after receiving my OWP and I have sent enquiries through the CIC webform on how to remove this condition. A month later, still no reply. So today, I have sent a new online application for OWP and paid the 255 again. And yes, the 255 hurts.

Just a little rant to say that I couldn't understand why they made it a rule that panel physicians no longer accept upfront medical exams for PR applications (although some were able to perform them) and then now that they give out these OWPs, it has a bunch of restrictions on them. Now you have to pay another 255 for a new OWP!

Yes work permits get to you by mail within a week or 2 weeks. Then you have to take the work permit to a service Canada location where they will issue you a sin number. Bring some form of I'D with you. Been a while since I did my sin.

They will give you a sheet of white paper with your temporary sin on there. You should not lose it and keep it confidential.

I too submitted my police clearance and imm0008 April 11. Called twice and both times they say it's in progress..
I want to know if what happens next and as for medical records I haven't been asked to get it yet .

I was able to link my PR application to myCIC account. Do we have to link the OWP application also? If yes, how? I try doing it, selecting temporary residence, open work permit......I entered the application number, the same what I got for my PR application, and it gives me an error, application number wrong! If I use UCI and family name option, it gives me an error, no application found! So I wonder if we have to link the OWP application to the online CIC account?
