In other words, it is not being processed yet. Thank you very much for your answer ! I am so very glad that I have fond this forum! Makes me feel more at ease .

Another question. I entered our info ( I am the sponsor) on the spreadsheet but I don't see it on my profile like you have it, flag and all! What do I need to do?

I believe you need 10 posts. Its in the profile menu above.

They probably have yet to finish entering it into GCMS. That's why I suggested a month. They won't start processing your case before then, is my guess.

Thanks a bunch for clueing me in .

From what i have noticed by looking at the individual sheets the processing times have somewhat lessened.I am fine waiting for a month or more..as long as they approve me as a sponsor.
When I was working on the application the immigration specialist at my MP's office told me that thing would be quicker if I also paid the PR right away. Is that true? Well, we decided to wait until approval.

Thank, Bea

Generally, yes it cuts time off the end, because they don't have to wait for it.

That said, the RPRF is a means for CIC to fund it's activities. That fee (and your fees paid) are held in escrow until they start that activity. So, it's like an incentive for them..

I see.. is that what you did? well, it is what it is for us.. All this is quite expensive..

I also read some conflicting info regarding health care in Alberta ( that's where we are) One source stated that my husband could apply for it when the first response from CIC is favourable, another one states that all you need is your AOR with UCI.. I have to admit i find both scenarios not very credible..

We paid RPRFupfront. That way we know we've paid all the fees, and no surprises later. Also, if they chose to increase the fee, we'd already paid..

In terms of health care, other frequenters of this thread who are in Alberta could comment for me. I can tell you in ON you can get access to OHIP via AIP letter (first positive response from CIC), or the OWP + a letter from your employer.

We're in Calgary and all we did was bring our marriage certificate and my wifes passport to the registry. Both of you will have to be there, if she has a TRV they will issue her a health card for the amount of time remaining on the 6 months from when they entered. When they get their work permit you inform them and they will send you another card with an expiration date 2 years later.

You don't need to wait for AOR or anything from CIC. Just make sure that you bring lots of ID to the registry more is always better.

Hi Everybody,
So I just received my AOR couple days ago for a sponsorship app we submitted last month with an OWP. I know that we can track the sponsorship applicaiton online, but is there a way to track the OWP?

My husband (the one being sponsorred) tried to link the paper app to his online account, but it won't give him the option to link the WP, just a PR, ETA, and TR app can be linked.

Is there a way to track the OWP?

Thanks,

Do you think we should update our file at CIC?

Congrats Alam to you and your family. All the best. ;D

Oh wow! i had no idea! My husband won't require a work permit as he is retired. his TRV is about to expire but as soon as we get the extension I will go to Alberta Healthcare.. great news!
Thank you so much for the info!

Thank you so much! We had to scrape the money together for the app so we need some time to save for the RPRF.
One more question: my husband's Temporary Resident Visa is expiring soon. Just applied for an extension. Once it is approved I will have to give the info to CIC Mississauga. Is there a way I can email it or does it have to be via mail?

You don't need to do anything once it's approved. CIC issues the visa, so they already know his status -- even before you do! :)

Define 'us'?

You'll find that many here can answer most questions. The problem is competing opinions. So you'll need to take each with a grain. Otherwise, this forum is capable of getting most people and cases past the finish line. Only major issues should require a lawyer...

Sigh. We submitted a police certificate upfront, and just found out that not only did they never scan it in but they sent a request for a new one in August, which we obviously never even received. Now I have to wait another 4 months for a new police certificate. What is the point of submitting things up front if they are just going to lose them...
