Processing measures to reduce the in-Canada spousal application inventory

3 Streamlined processing of straightforward cases

In order to allow for a more effective processing, in-Canada spousal applications already in the inventory will be pre-assessed to identify applications which are straightforward and may be streamlined, and which applications require a closer review.

Processing of the SCLPC applications in the inventory, other than those already referred to local offices for closer review, will be conducted by CPR. Cases already referred to local offices will be processed using usual procedures. In all applications, officers will ensure that an integrated search is performed as per normal procedures, with special attention to potential excluded relationships.

Cases may be referred to local offices if further review or an interview is required, as per section 5.34 of chapter IP 8 (PDF, 898.94 KB).

Question: What is CPR?

Central Processing Region. My guess: Ontario (CPC-M & CPC-O)...

EDIT: When I googled 'CIC Central Processing region', first link is CPC-O.

In 2 File Management:
"For applications where items on the Document Checklist are missing, the Centralized Processing Region (CPR) will prioritize applications based on how quickly applicants respond to requests for missing documentation, such as police certificates and outstanding civil documentation."

Thanks Profiler!!!! ;D

@CPC Ontario would be the visa office in etobicoke

PCC's were supposed to go to CPC-V if they were in the request wave. That said, cut CPC-M a break here. They do almost all the pre-processing on PR cases, and do all all the processing for inland cases, as well as PGP cases. When CPC-V had the inland responsibility, they couldn't keep up (that's where the backlog started).

Just wanted to give everyone a little info for my timeline! I applied for PR and OWP and included all of my medical exam stuff!

Application packet received in Mississauga: June 28, 2016.
1st AOR: July 18, 2016.
OWP issued: October 18, 2016.

I have been in contact with my city's MP's office which has provided me with so much info! They actually gave me a date for my OWP, which was 10/21. SO long story short, OWP's are actually coming FASTER than the four month wait time! Only three months in between 1st AOR and issuing OWP for me. Hopefully this helps someone or provides a little hope! OWP's ARE coming faster than anticipated even though it seems they never will arrive ;)

GOOD LUCK to those still waiting! Contact your city's MP's office, they have access to so much information and can provide it for you unlike a call to CIC.
