Yeah 27 months is definitely not reasonable. I would be intrigued to know the stats on things like how many applications they receive each day etc and how long it takes to look through each application. I mean the forms must be pretty straight forward and they should breeze through them quite easily. Either way I am also waiting for the liberals to deliver on their promise of quicker processing times and cutting the amount of time required to become a citizen etc. Fingers crossed we all get dealt with swiftly

Looking at the tracker there are about 300 odd applicants in 2015 and equal number is 2014. If the trackers consist of even 15% ( assumption) of all applications, still a total of 2-3K applications should't take 27 months for processing. If 800 Express Entry applications can be processed in 3-6 months ( average since launch of EE), Syrian refugees 25K in 4 months, families do deserve better processing times lines.

Yes, fingers crossed...hoping change happens...soon!

well that is just typical that the IRCC have put a date back again! They said that today Spousal Sponsorship applications would be able to be linked to CIC accounts online but that has now been put back to 23rd July. Disappointing dates just keep getting put back

Just an update on my situation for those needing to leave Canada before OWP approved:

Lodged OWP extension with PR 17 Feb. Left Canada for Australia 7th May & returned today via Vancouver. I applied & was approved ETA online before leaving Australia so that I had a valid visitor permit upon re-entry. Had all my PR & work permit docs with me just in case I had trouble re-entering.

At customs I was asked: Did I have a work permit? No, should hear outcome by 17th June. Where are you living until then? With my partner at such & such address. Is partner Canadian? Yep.

Done. Happy days. Now to see if there's any repercussions to work permit extension or PR application but at least we're back in the same country together & not separated and I can do with a holiday after my short hectic trip home anyway. :)
Glad to hear it worked out!

I know, hoping a lot from the new government. (With due respect to Syrians) I feel all the energy and resources of IRCC & its affiliated départements are focussed on Syrians. It's time other applications are shown some consideration too.

Just looking at reasonable processing times, not 27 months.

According to the 2015 Timeline Spreadsheet there are some Sept Oct applicants that have reached DM & PR already. There are also plenty prior to that with still nothing. I'm hoping that the previous applicants have been expecting the 24 month processing time & just haven't been online to update the spreadsheet. Fingers crossed that processing has already been made faster. I know it has for outland. American Sister-in-law got approval within 4 months.

Yeah it's definitely a flawed system, it's like if some people get involved in illegal activities ..let's just assume everyone else has that intention and punish them all.
Punishment should be harsh rather than assuming everyone is in on it.
Imagine the entire society had this logic..anyway..I'm happy they are trying to change it..changes in outland is a great sign..waiting for changes in inland. :)

today I was finally able to link the OPW application in myCIC!

Nice, when had you applied? :)

Our application received by CPC Mississauga 30 March 2016, started processing 2nd May 2016. Still unable to link.

In the CIC processing time is says it will take 26 months.

According to the spreadsheet of 2015 September applicants it is taking approximately 7 months to receive sponsorship approval.

Thinking of doing our medical in September 2016 so it will have at least a year before it expires. Anyone else holding out on doing their medical?

I see hardly any April'16 applicants who have received their AOR? Hoping they don't let the April'16 files to 'fossilize' somehwere in the corner.

I was just able to link the work permit application to the My CIC account. I did not use the sponsor's UCI. I chose temporary residence/work permit open & initial and used the principal applicant's name, date of birth, and passport information.

I received my acknowledgement of receipt on 2nd May so based on that and when you sent yours you should receive your AOR between 1st and 3rd of June, 2016.
