Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications 2016 timeline and updates

Hello Ma'am and Sir,

Good morning!

I have two questions for all of you here. Hope you can enlighten me, i am really confused.

My inland spouse application together with my Open Work permit was received by CPC-mississauga this Monday, May 16,2016. I saw it on the tracking number that it was already received. My duration of stay as a tourist will end on June 1, 2016.

1. My question is did i get an implied status? will it affect my OWP or no problem with my OWP that im going to received after 4 months?

I am planning to extend my stay as a tourist to be sure since my duration of stay will end on june 1, 2016. I will be submitting my tourist visa extension tomorrow. My tourist visa validity will expire on July 16, 2016.

to be clear. - Duration of stay allowed in canada will end on june 1, 2016
- Tourist Multiple entry Visa validity will expire on July 16, 2016.

2. My question is can i extend for another 6 months even though my visa is valid up to july 16, 2016?
or just an extension from June 2, 2016 up to July 16, 2016?

Just wondering what dates do i put on the IMM 5708 on page 3 question number 2. "Indicate how long you plan to stay"

I want to put 6 months, if that's possible.

I just went and checked myCIC for about the 10th time since Tuesday...and my work permit has been approved!!! Will update when it arrives in the mail!!!

Application package was received January 18th. I called CIC on Tuesday and the person I spoke to notified whoever processes the apps that the processing time of 4 months had passed; two days later it was approved.

Update! Case enquiry can actually work!
We never received our AOR, so my husband wrote CIC a message two weeks ago, basically only stating that we would like to know his UCI. The call centre was an absolute waste of time, so case specific enquiry was the next option... And it worked! We got the UCI, and just checked on ECAS, and finally:
APP RECEIVED Feb 19th
CORRESPONDENCE SENT (lol) April 13th
APP STARTED PROCESSING April 12th

PHEW. It's all about getting that sponsor UCI...

Just got the OWP. Cic sent it ot our representative and she mail it to us. It was approved May 10, 2016 and only valid until September 3, 2017. Same with the validitiy of my husband's passport. Is the work permit still valid when we renew the passport ( we are planning on renewing it atleast 4 months before the passport expires and renew the OWP 2 months before its expiration date, just to be safe)

And also, is it hard to renew the OWP? I doubt we'll get 'approval status' from cic by sept. 2017.

My husband is thrilled with this OWP. Me, I'm just worrying more and more.

I hope cic improves their processing times so we have less stress on our minds and pockets.

this thread is very quiet.
not much action on the 2016 submissions. The March/April folks have received the acknowledgement very quickly, but it seems that the open workpermit applications still take 4-5 months...

Hello everyone.

I am currently almost finished with the in-land sponsor application for my wife and just have a quick question.

We have a daughter, 8 months old, that was born outside of Canada but obtained her Canadian passport because I am a Canadian.
My wife will be the applicant and I will be the sponsor. In the application, it asks the applicant whether they have a dependent child.
Would our daughter be considered a dependent a child? or do they mean a child that is only my wife's and not mine? or a child that would be sponsored as well.

"For the applicant and his or her dependent children".

Your help would be highly appreciated!!!
