Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications 2016 timeline and updates

Granted entry? What does that mean? And if the extension hasnt been approved will we still be able to apply for OWP/PR? I'm just assuming that near the middle/end of July we'll either not have heard anything and just have to apply for an extension but I'm unsure of how the implied status allows him to apply for the spouse OWP and the PR.

Granted entry is when you cross the border. So they have status when they cross.

In terms of PR + OWP: if you apply before the IEC expires for visitor status, he had implied status as a visitor... So as long as you have done that, and you can show you sent it (online they will already know, if you sent paper, include a courier receipt), and you can also mention it on IMM 0008 if they return the app (applied for visitor status after IEC and the date applied).

Important to note that, if his status somehow runs out, he can still apply for a PR inland, but no OWP until they tell him he is eligible (AIP). So worst case, he applies as out of status. There is a few cases here that did that, and most are still successful.

I just got an e-mail from IRCC Officer Solange acknowledging proof of receipt of cohabitation documents that we sent in March 2017. They did not request them we just sent them on our own.

Hey browning991, we just heard back from our MP. They followed up with CIC, but unfortunately have no better news. Same information as we already know - background check is in progress and since it's done by third party there isn't a way for them to expedite it in any way. They also said that since CIC is still promising a 26 month timeline for applications, our application is still considered on time and not delayed in any way despite the long wait on background screening... Back to the waiting game again...

I hope your MP offer better news for you!

They have not replied since I told them that my friend's MP Marwan Tabarra got an answer almost instantaneously.

I think my news might be the same as yours.

What I do not understand is why some people's background check take longer when the process is the same.

Sessions just tried to take the Coats line "I can't talk about that".

He was told, point blank, that he was obstructing the investigation of the intelligence committee who has a congressional responsibility to resolve what happened.... Sessions changed his tune as soon as the word "Obstructing" came up...

He wouldn't say ... suggested he couldn't remember ...

What I do not understand is why some people's background check take longer when the process is the same.

I also wonder what exactly they are checking in the background check process. My husband went to college and university in Canada and have worked a couple of years since then, so one of my guesses is that they are checking with the schools and employers - which means if any of them delays in responding, the whole process gets delayed?

I'm sure your MP will be getting back to you soon. I believe they are required to provide a response within 7-10 business days.

We need her PR Card before we can ask for a Non-immigrant wisa to visit the islands (you land in NY state, so you need to have permission to go there).
