If you filed it, then your husband is under implied status until they approve it. The OWP is neat because it gives the holder the ability to stay and to work if they wish. That is almost always guaranteed to be issued with inland applications. SO, keep that in mind, just in case they do not approve the visitor extension (which I suspect they will, given that they will find his PR application on file).

The rule is, once you file some form of Temporary Resident permit, you have implied visitor status until they decide. There are some special cases where the status is a little different, but in this case, it's visitor.

I did not know about the OWP. But my husband is going to be 66 and deserves a break..haha ( I am a bit younger) Hopefully we are not a unique case.. :) He has been here since March of 2014 and never had a problem to get an extension. Crossing my fingers for another one.
I am pretty patient but we had a scare with his mom in Michigan. She is 90 and had a severe health problem.Right on Christmas Day she ended up in the emerge..:( Of course he is eager to see her as soon as everything gets through..

Keep the OWP in your back pocket. In the unlikely event that his visit is not extended, we can help you get the OWP application filled out, and it can be sent away. That one is a guaranteed shot (though you may have to restore his status if you're close to expiration -- you can do this as part of the same application now). But he'll probably be fine in renewing. It's a Just In Case :).

A just in case is always good.. His TRV extension has expired but we applied before it did, so he is basically still in status.
Yes, I hope he will be fine..:) We have had plenty of stress last year... no need for more..
Again, thank you so very much for your help! in which part of Ontario do you live in?

I am wishing all of us the best of luck.. its not easy to sit tight but it's much better to relax ..

Thanks, and don't mention it.

South-western Ontario. Waterloo Region specifically. About an hour west of Toronto proper, and about 3 hours from Detroit, and about an hour from Niagara Falls.

I have a friend that hails from Kitchener.. Seen the sign for Waterloo when we took the 401. I usually took the plane to Toronto and then drove to the US. And, yes, the husband is from the Greater Detroit area, fairly close to the Canadian border ( Sarnia)
We are close to Edmonton, the little town Mark Messier is from..:)

This year they have tried pilots to try to reduce the backlog, and I suspect it's SIR that did that. Despite all the outward signs, we should have been in SIR as well, but somehow are not. So, I think they tried different things to see what would gain the most efficiency in clearing cases. They decided not to use that, so they have resumed the first-in first-out.

I know it's stinks that most of us are not SIR

Super'Wisa' (as my wife would say) is for Parents or GrandParents. The idea was to lessen the demand on PGP sponsorships. They also take a lot of time, and require an additional medical. They will only permit stays up to two years in length...

In her case, the Visitor visa should be extended. If not, applying for OWP + ROS in the one step is pretty much a guaranteed shot.

She and I also talk about my trip to Wegas.... I tease her, but I really shouldn't. But don't worry, she trolls me all the same.

Here is the SuperVisa: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp

Hi ,

I got my request for passport request submission for stamping and I sent them over on Dec 22 to Ottawa office since I am in canada. What is the usual processing time of the passport stamping since not able to track the return mail. Is there any other way to track since CIC customer service does not have this information.

Now you can link your application in myCIC or access it via ECAS with that Fxxxxxx number. You'll end up waiting until they contact you with requests (medical, police, interview (if required), etc). Usually the next step is SA, then AIP before DM.

Thanks for the information Profiler. I already sent the medical and police clearances with the app. What is the meaning of SA, AIP and DM?
