Does anyone know if OHIP would cover the required medical exam?
Nope, I asked the doctor I plan on seeing. But if your spouse has a sweet medical package at work(like mine has) you can ask for reimbursement .

Yeah I did, on paper, together with the PR. I assumed it was better this way. Then when I applied for restoration of status and sent a CSE note linked to the WP app to let them know I am restoring my status; so when I will have a decision made, if positive, I asked for OWP under the pilot program blah blah blah...
Technically, you have status now. You have implied status (and OWP's are like never refused).

I suppose we *could* retroactively ask for reimbursement... but, I can't be bothered to do the paperwork for the $200 we spent..

Nope, I don't. My visitor visa expired on June 20 and I filed my PR app on July 13. That's why I asked for restoration, not extension. So you see my problem now...

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought insurance would cover such exams. Good to know, thanks.

In our case, first we got the visitor extension (until 26 October 2016) we were still "in status" though, then we submitted the sponsorship, PR and OWP applications.

We are going to renew the TRV (expires in 30 Dec 2016), just in case.

Sure they would... They cover other exams like eye, dental, physio, etc..

We have never filed for an extension. She arrived here with her gear/dog Sept 22 2015. We filed March 2 2016.

I'm not talking about spouse's OHIP. I'm talking about private health insurance that's part of the employment package. This is different from company to company; some offer an extensive package some offer none. Oh, and my medicals will cost about 300 CAD here in Toronto.

How long did it take to get a decision for the extension?

Damn, life is sweet in Kitchener! Except for the road maze, of course ;D
We like to not talk about that... or the idea of "LRT"...

Realistically though, the office that does medicals in Kitchener is a straight shot from Highway 8...

Yes, I figured it was employment insurance. What would this expense go under though? Its not a medical necessity. I guess we will submit and see what happens.

I dunno how they classify it, but in case of my husband, he has a certain amount of money/ year for his and his 1st degree relatives medical - related stuff. One of his colleagues got a reimbursement for very expensive sunglasses, cause he said the sun does damage to his eyes...
Anyway, what I'm saying is there's no harm in asking.
