SA is an acronym we use for Sponsorship Approval. AIP is the signal you have transitioned from Stage 1 approval. This can take a while...

If your spouse is in status when you apply, her OWP only requires the sponsorship application be filed.
thanks. Seems like 3/4 months is the timeframe.

Congratulations on your AIP! I hope they will extend the validity on your medical, but if they don't, well it's few hundred $ more and your application will be approved!
Congrats. Whats your timeline?

My wife landed already, but we started in August 2015,
police certificate and CSQ required in June 2016. Sent police check in August 2016. Received CSQ only in September and sent it to CIC right after.
Medical request December 2016, done 2 weeks later.
SA, AIP, DM in March 2017
Landed May 26th, 2017. So about 21,5 months total for us.

Hi there good people. I'm new to this forum. We are June 2015 applicant. We received our AIP last October 2016, after that no news from IRCC. I just want to know if there's any June 2015 pending in the same boat as mine. My work permit is gonna expire on September and my lawyer wanted us to renew again for another set of fees. I have read that it takes 4mos to process the work permit extension at this time. Looking forward to landing in Etobicoke. Kindly advise. Please and thank you.
As @profiler suggested, it's really time to implicate your MP. The sponsor should do the initial contact, but be both present to meet the MP or the staff. They will be able to get rapidly a summary of what is holding you up. It's very likely the security check and if this is what is holding you, your MP won't be able to make it faster as this is done in collaboration with secret services of partner countries. But at least, you would know. If it's anything else, I'm sure your MP can make your application move.

Regarding your OWP, apply only about a week before it expires. You don't need an approved OWP to continue working, you need to have applied to renew it before it expired to be on implied status and be allowed to continue working. If you get your PR before your OWP is approved, you withdraw your application and get refund.

Best of luck, I hope you'll get news very soon!

We met in South Korea at university, so we sent photos of our time together in Korea, photos of our trips together in China and Canada, then photos of our wedding in Canada which included parents visiting from China.

We also sent joint bank account, separate phone bills but show the same address, just before applying we signed up for the cheapest life insurance we can find which is around $10 a month and submitted that. It shows the beneficiary as the spouse.

Under the joint ownership of residential property or residential leases part, instead of submitting those things, because we did not have one as we are living with my parents, I got my parents to write a statutory declaration saying we live with them and that our relationship is genuine and they signed it in front of the lawyer who then put their seal on it. We didn't get asked for additional documentation so I assume that worked.

Also, I printed out my updated martial status with the CRA from the CRA website and also printed out the page that showed that I updated my CRA banking info to our joint account.

Scanned a copy of my Mastercard and the supplementary card that I had issued under her name. Which helps show that I support her in Canada.
Printed out snapshots of our facebook walls of people congratulating us on certain milestones in our relationship.
Scanned party invitations mailed to us that shows we live at the same address.

Hello,

We applied within Canada. They received our application February 22, 2017 and the application started processing on March 8, 2017. So far they have requested Background check and the Medical and have received both. However, we have not gotten the Approval in Principle as of yet. I thought with the new application, the first stage was going to be much shorter but it has already been more than 5 months. When should we expect AIP?
Probably in January if they keep the same processing velocity.

Hello. We applied inland sponsorship and Cic received our application on September 13, 2016 and started processing it on October 14, 2016. There is no other update on Ecas beside this.

We have not received Sponsor or Applicant approval yet either. Last week we received request for Medical which was submitted. We had not sent Medical with the initial application. Does anyone know what will be the next steps after this and how long it will take to get the PR?
The fact that they asked to do your medical is a good sign they will start working on your file soon. The normal timeline is about 12-13 months now so you are yet well within normal time. It happens quite often that SA, AIP, and DM arrive together or within few days. Once they will actually work on your file, it will go relatively fast.

I have a really great news! Me and My Girlfriend are jumping and crying right now! Got a message in MyCIC... but still no update in ECAS.

Dear Ms Ivan28:

This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class. It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements.

I wonder if they will require another medical. Because her medical expired April this year.
Anyways, we will do it again if they asked. Gosh still can't believe it. We are almost there. :)
Haha! I can I imagine the feeling. I don't know how I'm gonna react after such a long wait. Congrats to you both though!
