her Open work permit will expire in May 2018. Yeah you are right we will just wait with the landing schedule. thank you very much profiler! What a wonderful day this is. And we just came back here in Canada yesterday. We were at Cuba for a week. Lol! We got the relaxation we need and now a great news to make it perfect! When does your OWP expire (or study permit, if that's how you acquired OHIP)? You need to update OHIP when you get COPR at your landing -- so if it's not expiring for the next couple months, I would just wait until landing day. Otherwise, ya you can show them that to get OHIP.
the coverage doesn't change from OWP to AIP to COPR. Healthcare is healthcare. So, for my wife, we found it was just better to wait, and to do it all in the same morning...her Open work permit will expire in May 2018. What exactly do you mean by OWP not tied to Sponsorship Application?OWP is not tied to SA. SA in the new process is reasonably fast, then you end up waiting. OWP is 4 months from the day you apply.
Murgaldo, you can submit an OWP along with your sponsorship application at the exact same time. Submit them together. They will process the OWP immediately and issue it within 4 months. We did this and got it in 3 months actually. What exactly do you mean by OWP not tied to Sponsorship Application?
I was under the impression that spouses where eligible to apply for an open work permit as soon as first stage approval was done in the sponsorship process.
That is pretty fast compared to the previous process. Any tips you can share on what you sent them for relationship support material???Hello,
We applied within Canada. They received our application February 22, 2017 and the application started processing on March 8, 2017. So far they have requested Background check and the Medical and have received both. However, we have not gotten the Approval in Principle as of yet. I thought with the new application, the first stage was going to be much shorter but it has already been more than 5 months. When should be expect AIP?
Yes there are still a few of them... unfortunately!Wow. And your lawyer has yet to speak up to CIC? To involve your MP? You're almost at 25 months!
OK, well, you can submit yourself and save yourself the fees. Look in my signature. Takes about a half hour or so.
IMHO: it's time to call your MP and bypass your lawyer. This is an indication there is something probably wrong here. I didn't think there is any 2015's left. They are in the summer of 2016 now....
that is our plan, just needed to know the time frame. 3/4 months is quite acceptable.Murgaldo, you can submit an OWP along with your sponsorship application at the exact same time. SA is an acronym we use for Sponsorship Approval. AIP is the signal you have transitioned from Stage 1 approval. This can take a while...What exactly do you mean by OWP not tied to Sponsorship Application?

Congratulations on your AIP! I hope they will extend the validity on your medical, but if they don't, well it's few hundred $ more and your application will be approved!I have a really great news! Me and My Girlfriend are jumping and crying right now! Got a message in MyCIC... but still no update in ECAS.
Dear Ms Ivan28:
This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class. It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements.
I wonder if they will require another medical. Because her medical expired April this year.
Anyways, we will do it again if they asked. Gosh still can't believe it. We are almost there.
