Hello,

I have important questions in regard of permanent residency. I'll try to describe everything clearly.

Our situation:

I am Canadian, my wife is German. We want to live together in Canada, in Quebec. We are going to ask for a permanent residency for her. We have begun to fill all the papers and we are almost ready to send everything. But we still have questions, and we can't find a clear answer on the internet.

She lives in Berlin, at the moment. I am visiting her, on a work and travel for youth visa. I fly back to Canada the 28 of june. She will visit me the 27 of july.

The questions:

1- Can she come and live with me in Canada, while we are waiting for the permanent residency ?

2- Can she apply on a program or a special visa or a permit, that would allow her to study or to work in Canada, while we are waiting for her permanent residency? (we know it can be very long to obtain)

3- Is there a better option for us, if we want to live together in Canada, while waiting for her permanent residency?

4- If she is in Canada visiting me, should we send her application in the Embassy of Canada in Berlin or in Canada, and where should she have her medical test ?

Thank you very much.

Your application will be an outland you send your app to mississauga ontario where they process your part then they will send it off to germany for the PR portion.
Your wife is from a visa exempt country so she doesnt apply for a visa but saying that does not mean she is still let in without proving to immigration she will return home after her visit time expires, she can apply for an extension of the visitors stay,if she gets into Canada.
She can apply for a study visa if she has acceptance from a university but there is an income requirement for that, she can apply for a workers permit too.If she is a skilled worker, you can find the information under federal skilled workers for the requirements.
But most cases find it very hard to get into Canada as a visitor with a PR app in process as you are required to prove that she has strong ties in her homeland to bring her back home, and having a spouse in Canada is a strong point of why she would not go home.

hmmm.

We are in similar position as OP, but it is my GF(1year common law etc) sponsoring me, and I am in Canada.

I've a question re the entering Canada on a visitor permit:
I am Irish (Visa Exempt country)
I am in Canada
We are submitting our sponsorship/PR/TWP application this week, July.
- I am visiting to Ireland in August for a week for my brother's wedding.

Would I have issues coming back into Canada, due to PR application, as noted above?
Or would I be ok, as at that point CIC will only, so far, be processing my GF's sponsorship application?

Many thanks,
IA

Even though it will be your Common Law Spouses app part that is being processed your name and such is also entered into the system. And if you do leave yes there is a chance you may not get back in.There is always that chance. And if you are applying inland then it is stated on the website that you are not to leave until the process is landed. If you are doing it outland, even if you were to have an interview and had to go back for that there is a chance you would have to stay there till you get your PR.Even though you are exempt.
Exempt just means you dont have to apply for a visa, but you still go through the same channels at the POE as a visa holder.

Jeepers.

Ok, what kind of things drive that 'chance'? ie, what are the common reasons for DOE, and what can I do to minimise the chance?
