Sponsoring wife while still in school

Background:
I'm Canadian, my girlfriend is Australian. We're getting married in January in Australia.
I'm currently employed full time and make decent money. However, I was in school for the past 2 years and my income was non-existent. Infact, I had to take out student loans from Student Aid Alberta and Canada Student Loans. I still owe money on those loans (about 20k)

I want to sponsor my future wife to come to Canada via the outland sponsorship process (I believe it's faster?).

Now while I am currently employed I do wish to continue my education to get my Engineering Degree. It would take another two years and I would have to take out more student loans. Would I be able to do this while sponsoring my wife? Or should I wait and continue working before I go back to school. Also does even having student loans disqualify me from sponsoring someone? Can I use student loans to support my wife and I and still get approved?

There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor but you do need to be able to demonstrate you can provide support. You cannot be on social assistance (welfare) and I believe also cannot have declared bankruptcy.

I have approximately 10k in savings

If you live with a family member you could get them to write a letter saying they will help financially until school has finished and in full time jobs. If you are working while educating you will also have some kind of income

Would part-time work be viewed as sufficient?

Well my wife is in full time education, lives with family. Her family wrote a letter to say they are helping support us while she is in full time education and she has been approved. Part time and savings would help, there are no minimum income requirements

The sponsor needs to be approved and for an outland application it's the first part of the process. Demonstrating savings, part time job and letters as mentioned should be sufficient.

She has had her email/letter from CIC telling her she met eligibility to sponsor, you have to meet sponsor requirements, like no criminal record, financial support in some form, if you've sponsored someone before etc
