Sponsoring Parents in 2015

Last year I send my application through Canada Post. The tracking system showed Out for Delivery on 6th Jan and after that it was never updated as delivered until Jan 08 When I received file number from CIC it stated that Application was received on Jan 06.

To summarize what you said is 100% correct, so do not worry, your document might have been delivered.

To those who also made bad decision by using Canada Post:

I received update today saying -
"Our tracking system indicates an 'out for delivery' scan for this item on: 2015/01/05.

Because the addressee is considered a large-volume mail receiver, we consider this scan as confirmation of final delivery. Accordingly, we will now proceed with closing the file.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you may have been caused."

Then I called Canada Post looking for clarification. Basically, when Canada Post delivers large volume to a mail room, "out for delivery" is their final scan, and the time stamp is when they drop off the package. Once the mail room sorts things out, they do one more scan which updates the tracking as "delivered". However they may or may not do that last scan, not to mention signatures.

To summarize, consider the time stamp that your package went "out for delivery" as arrival time at CIC. Don't bother waiting for the signature. I'm apparently upset about their service but at this point, not much we can do. Keep fingers crossed and hope for the best. Good luck everyone.

I would like to join. I'm hoping to sponsor my mother (no spouse or dependent) in 2015. But I can't say that I fully understand the whole process. Considering the process won't change next year, I have few questions and would appreciate if someone can help me with these.

1) I will send sponsorship application and my mom's PR application with all other forms and supporting documents to CPC-M first. At this stage, my mom doesn't have to provide any supporting docs (such as PCC, Birth Cert etc.) other than her PR application, forms and copy of PP. Am I right?

2) I've lost few of my original NOA's (I will submit tax info for 2011, 2012 & 2013). Can I print the tax returns of all these years (or only the lost ones) from CRA website? These printouts with heading of "#Year Assessment" are more elaborate than regular NOA. Will they suffice?

3) My mom is with me in Canada now on Supervisa. She will probably stay for 2 years till Oct, 2016. In this case, will her PR file be transferred to Singapore (her citizenship is Bangladeshi)? For the rest of the documents from her side; when will they require to submit?

4) If her PR application still is considered "Outside Canada", how long it takes? From what I see from CIC; it takes 41 months (sponsorship @ CPC-M) + 66 months (PR @ SVGO) = 107 months (9 years ) to complete the whole process. Does it really take that long?

I'm sure I will have more questions in future. For now, these will help me gather the docs. Thanks.

If you have not even started any paperwork yet, you will most likely not submit your app in time to meet the 5000 cap this year.

No your parents can't pay the fees in Bangladesh since the initial processing fees are first paid to CPC-Mississauga. The sponsor can put their credit card info on the application, to pay the fees with.

Those who did not mention their CIC receipt time or don't know about it will have a default 12:00 AM (mid-day).

12:00 AM is beginning of the day, not mid day.

Also, they didn't even start accepting applications till 8:00 AM

I have a question I missed to write my mother's name in our native language in question no2 application called scheduel A. Also in the Generic application I have written the name of the applicant spouse (my father) as my first name by mistake along with my father's first and last name ( as if me) while it should only shows my father's first and last name ! Do you think they will return the application for this reasons?
