I would think that the processing time starts once the file gets to Manila (i.e. after sponsorship approval). Are you over the processing time based on that date?

I found when I got my MP involved I had to push a little to get them to do anything for me. You may need to be persistent. Stick with it.

Thank you for the tip.

I also send request form through CIC website and I received this email yesterday.

" Dear Applicant,

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada as member of the family class.

Please be informed that both new medicals and RPRF payment were received.

Application has been moved to urgent review shelf.

You will be notified if additional documents may be required.

Yours sincerely,

that means they actually start to process my application?

than again

I suspect they have been working on your file already and it's in queue for final review. You should be hearing something in the near future, though I wouldn't hazard a guess as to exactly when that will be.

Ordering your GCMS notes would give you a better idea what's been going on. Have you done that?

actually I did request GCMS NOTE and received it already.
but honestly I do not know what I am looking for....

Yeah, they're pretty confusing to read. If you're trying to figure out what's going on with your application, it's best to look at the last few pages. That's where you will find the most recent entries indicating the most recent dealings with your file.

You can also contact your MP, and after signing the necessary forms, tell them to contact your VO directly. I got mine to do that and he went over my GCMS notes with me and it didn't cost me anything. When the contact Mississauga, usually they get an answer in 2 or 3 days and the report they get is not that detailed, but when the contact the embassy that is handling your spouse's case it will take about 7 days and they get the full detail of your application (GCMS NOTE).

Of course this all depends on how useful your MP (representative) is. Mine was very useful and did everything I asked him to.

Thank you for all your replies , Bartjones and CanNZ.

I received email from MP's office last friday.
They got me back pretty faster than I expected.

they said my file has not been processed more than 17month .
I have another 10 days to be 17month…..

So I plan to contact MP again on my 17 month day.

Thank you again.

Just from that it sounds like you got a useless one. hopefully they turn out to be helpful, but I have my doubts.

Just starting my process now for my Korean husband! I have been living here for about 8 years now. Married for 4 and have one daughter! I sent my package on monday and had confirmation that it was received by CPC Mississauga. Any idea how long it takes for them to open it up and take a look? I know they said 55 days to approve sponsorship, but I hope thats conservative!

Stage 1 processing is pretty accurate, so expect the full time of 55 days.

However it's the stage 2 times at Manila that are the conservative worst-case times, so after app is sent to Manila you can hope/expect a time quicker than what's stated on website.

so it has been officially 17months my file transferred to Manila.
and I contacted MP and requested if they can give me more update on my file.

From email I received from MP's office
17months processing time represents only for 80% of successful applications and I'm still "in status" in Canada (recently applied for extension for Visitor visa and waiting for it now) so should wait for until I get my visitor visa.
Plus, frequent request would bring delay of processing.

Should I contact Manila office by email through CIC website or wait for it ?
Thanx

Hi. My case has been processed at London visa office. Three weeks ago my ecas status changed to decision made along with passport request from london office and was asked to send my passport to manila office as i am currently living in South Korea. It was written in the letter that my visa is ready to be stamped conditional to a final admissibility Review by an immigration officer. I sent my passport from seoul on 8 June. It has been more than two weeks but I haven't received my passport back. Any idea how long they will take? I assume my case is different from other ppl of Philippines where they are asked to submit passport at earlier stage.

Moreover I sent an enquiry to manila office yesterday and they replied that my file is in queue for finalization. What does that mean. Decision had already been made in my case and i received the passport request.

We completed my wife's landing on Monday. Just waiting for the PR card and that's it! Huge thanks to all who patiently help out on here. You've all made it an amazingly helpful resource.

For those curious this was our timeline...
-Feb 24/15: App received in Mississauga
-Apr 13/15: Sponsorship Approval
-Apr 30/15: Started processing wife's app
-May 5/15: Request for photos/passport copy/Appendix A
-May 6/15: Decision Made
-June 16/15: Arrival of COPR papers
-June 22/15: Flagpole landing

Tell your MP to get off their fat ass and do you want tell them to do, I once yell at my MP rep. Hell, I had my MP look into my file once a month! Even once they contacted the VO directly and got my GMSC notes.

Call their office and make an appointment FOR BOTH OF YOU, you both will have to sign some waiver forms and them tell them to check your file. I remember telling you before, how helpful the MP's will be greatly depends on which one you get, mine was good, yours seems lazy.

AFter my wife got her COPR, I did phone my MP rep and thank him for all the effort he put into checking into my wife's application.
