Does anyone know what status is given by the consulate? Will they give my husband his PR or just a visa? Does he have to fly to montreal or can he transfer in Paris or London?

the embassy will issue your husband a visa, on entry into Canada he will be a PR

depending on the airline he will flight out of morocco into paris or london, and then there may or may not be a connection thru Montreal,

i find the lowest fares with the best connecting times is with www.cheaptickets.com the fare is in US dollars but even so it works out to be the best price....that is into toronto

Thanks so much. I was just curious if his visa into canada would allow him to transfer through Paris as airfrance a connecting flight from Casa to Toronto via Paris.

Just a caution, his VISA will allow him to transit through Paris without a transit visa but he will be kept in the secure area of the airport and taken to his next flight. Book him a "through" ticket so that his luggage gets transferred without him having to claim it and re-check it in Paris. And it's good for only ONE transit country. There are some flights that go Casa-Paris-Amsterdam-Canada. Don't book him one of those unless he has a Schengen visa to transit through Europe.

You might also want to consider flying him to Montreal via Royal Air Maroc and then a connecting flight to Toronto. That way he "lands" in Montreal. If you do that, give him at least 3 hours between landing in Montreal and departing for Toronto because you never know how long the landing procedure will take.

Greetings All,

Great News!!

I just wanted to let you all that that I got a call from my wife this morning telling me that they have scheduled her for an interview on June 23rd at 8am!!

I have to say I am scratching my head a little because it will be almost 5 months since the day that Rabat got our files that this interview has been scheduled and I don’t know if I should be worried - Rabat never does anything this quick (LOL!).

To be honest, I was expecting longer wait times and for that reason I've been on the sidelines and asking a question or two about the process but now I would like to take it up a notch and request feedback of everybody who has knowledge of the interview and all the next steps that usually occur.

So here I go:

1. What will my wife need to bring to the interview? Is there anything else that she will need to know for that day?

2. After the interview is complete, will she know anything that day and if not, approximately how long after can she expect to hear back from them?

3. If the interview was successful, could you briefly outline what are the next steps? i.e. is the passport given on the interview date or on another visit?

4. The Interview is June 23rd. Her Medical is set to expire August 13th. Would you recommend that she preemptively seek to renew her medical in the event that this whole process after the interview goes on past 1 month?

I honestly did not think they would be getting to her file till October so I am a little shocked/surprised but mostly ecstatic at this news and I pray that this news serves as hope for all others who are waiting to be with their loved one.

I may be making more inquiries in the coming days when more questions come to mind but for now, any information that you kind folks can provide pertaining to the interview and next steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Irfan

First of all congratulations

Your wife seems to be one of the lucky ones that is being processed quickly.

For the interview your wife needs to take any proof that you have of your relationship, from before you sent your application, as well as all of the extra proof from after you sent your application. Any pictures, chat logs, proof of phone calls, plane ticket stubs, anything you have to provide additional proof.
They may have asked her to bring additional items with her, such as additional documents. She also needs to take all of her knowledge of yourself and your family , and she should try to relax if possible. it is all questions that she should already know about you and your family. They just ask questions to know her true interst in this relationship.

They tell some people on the day of the interview that they are accepted, others are told they will notify them of their decision because they want to take a further look at the evidence provided.

If she is approved she will receive a call to return to get her Visa in her passport. They issue Visa's on Wednesdays. I have heard of Visa's being issued as soon as the following week after the interview, as well as several months after the interview. My Husband waited 2 months to get his following the interview. It was a long wait, but at least he was told at the interview that he was approved so it was less taxing on the nerves. lol

If it would be a refusal, ( but don't think of that, just think positive ) She would receive a refusal letter in the mail, usually a few weeks after the interview. this letter would give the reasons for refusal, as well as the steps for you to take to appeal the decision.

It's just my opinion, but I believe they will probably issue her Visa before her medical expires. Just be prepared to get her airline ticket quickly if necessary so she can leave before the expiry of the medical .

If you think your wife for some reason cannot leave before the expiry of her medical, then I would say another medical may be a good idea.

Congratulations again, and good luck with everything.

it is likely that since the medical is about to expire they are processing the file quickly.

she should take her passport...it will likely be returned at the end of the interview

she should take any further proof that she has of the on going communication between you two, msn chats, emails, phone records etc

she should review your entire application

when answering any of the IO's questions she should respond whenever possible "we"have talked about this and decided that......she should tell the story of your relationship as if she was telling it to a friend with "emotion" so that IO gets a sense that the relationship is genuine
make sure she has some future plans for the two of you ie buying a home together....having children... after she gets settled...they are really big on knowing that the couple has discussed what their life will be like together in the future

it is rare for them to give a negative response at the interview to avoid confrontation i suspect lol but if your wife is given the things that were sent with the original application that it is an approval
if she is brave enough she can ask if she has been approved...if she doesn't get the documents back as the sponsor you should immediately send a fax sying you are available for a phone interview with the IO and explain and some convincing facts based on what the IO asked and your wifes responses
because her medical is close to expiring it is very likely they will issue the visa within 2 to 4 weeks to give you time to make flight arrangemtnts...they will call her to go there....visa's are usually issued on a Wed...you hand in the passport in the morning and return in the afternoon to get the visa

the last question usually asked is what will you do if the application is not approved....i strongly suggest saying something to this affect....there is no reason not to approve us we love each other and just want to be together...if we are not approved then he will come and see me more often and we will appeal...

tell her to be calm and confident and answer truthfully with a small explanation,

best of luck

true-love/ Hoping75 / Lois Lane,

Thank you very much for your insightful feedback. Given that I already have my pre-application proofs/docs/logs, I will actually start putting together all post-application activities and have them sent to her immediate.

As for the interview itself, she is nervous but I too advised her that there is nothing to be nervous about when it's the truth. Honest and genuine relationships have been denied visas in the past so nothing is new. We can only give it our best shot.

Just two weeks ago, I had booked a ticket to fly down near the end of July. This was because I wanted to at least see her in the summer since I figured they may take till October to get to our file. Now I'm really praying that the July visit visit become a visit to bring her back! That would be remarkable.

Once again, I appreciate all your feedback and I will definitely pass your helpful advise along to my wife.

Will keep you all posted about the progress. For now, some yoga, deep breathing exercise, prayers and some phone logs to prepare for June 23rd.

Take Care
