Something annoying just came up today, we are about to send our application, most is printed and ready to go,we just had to print some final things, e.g the actual forms which have been waiting on the computer. But we are now in Canada and just bought a printer here just to realise normal printing paper here is different to A4 sized paper in Ireland! Has anyone encountered this before and found somewhere you can buy small quantities of A4 paper here? Or would it be okay having mostly A4 sized paper with mybe 50-100 sheets of canadian/us sized paper (a little shorter and wider)

Hi Crillz, we submitted both sizes of paper as some of our documentation was from the UK and other paperwork which had to be re-printed, was printed here in Canada. I would doubt they would hold this against you and your printer will adjust the sizing to format both sizes when printing.

I doubt that CIC are worried about paper size, don't forget that We have US letter and US legal paper sizes here :)

Having some issues filling out IMM 1344 A,Section C Question 6. The section regarding the sponsored person.

Our situation is as follows, we are applying for common law and I'm Irish. We are applying outland. Myself and my girlfriend lived together from 9th Feb 2010 - January 25th 2011 in Ireland. She was on a work visa in Ireland. On Jan 25th 2011 we flew to Canada (as her visa was about to expire) and I am now here in Canada on a 6 month visitor visa, we are residing together here. We obviously need January 25th - February 9th as dates we lived together in order to fulfill the 1 year living together requirement. So this leads to the confusing issue of IMM 1344 A Section C Question 6!

-The Question asks in 6, (a) "Address where the person you are sponsoring lives" We are unsure wether I should put my Irish address here or the Canadian address at which we are now residing. Obviously, we are living here but I am here on a visitor visa so I am not a "resident". I have read two answers to this problem, one saying put the canadian address, and one saying put my Irish address.

- Also, in the same question,3 after the address it says "If you are sponsoring a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class, do not complete b and c, proceed to 7 immediately". Does this have something to do with an inland application? The "common-law partner in canada class" part confuses me. But the two questions, b and c seem to be relevant if you put a canadian address, as they ask about where you want the application to be processed. The same question seems to be asked in the eligibility assessment "Are you sponsoring a member of the family class or a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class" so we must put YES to this otherwise she will not be eligible.

- We plan on putting the Canadian address as our mailing address, this seems pretty straight forward

- These questions seem to match up with IMM 0008 Question 14 and 15, which asks my mailing address and residential address. So I assume they must match the address put in IMM 1344. So which way should we put it, we are outland, I'm currently in Canada on a visitor visa and we need these weeks until Feb 9th as days living together. So which address would be best to put.

Thanks for the help. So confusing!

Either would be fine. In either case, attach a letter explaining your circumstances - that you are still living together. You need that for the common-law eligibility. People on this forum have come to Canada as a visitor and stayed here for 6 months or more, and put this Canadian address as their residential address. None of them have reported any problems doing this.
In your case I think it is better to use the Canadian address as your residential address, and as the address where you are living: you are living there, no matter your visa status, so it is true; plus you have to make clear that you are still living with your partner to get the 12 months of cohabitation.
- Also, in the same question,3 after the address it says "If you are sponsoring a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class, do not complete b and c, proceed to 7 immediately". Does this have something to do with an inland application? The "common-law partner in canada class" part confuses me. "A member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class": this is all one phrase - they are referring to the class of spouses in Canada and common-law partners in Canada. In other words, this is referring to the 'inland' application. To sponsor someone inland, they have to be living in Canada, so 6. a) has to be a Canadian address, and b) and c) can't apply. You are applying outland, so if you do use the Canadian address you will have to answer 6 b) No. You have not been admitted to Canada for one year, so your outland application must be processed at the visa office responsible for your country of citizenship.
The same question seems to be asked in the eligibility assessment "Are you sponsoring a member of the family class or a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class" so we must put YES to this otherwise she will not be eligible.
Yes, put 'yes'. Here there are two choices: she is either sponsoring a member of the family class (that is, ouland) or a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (that is, inland).

I say use your Canadian address as your residential address. Attach a letter explaining your situation very clearly, so even if the visa officer thinks it is the wrong choice, he/she will at least have an explanation of your situation and why you chose what you did.

In IMM 0008(Background/Declaration), Question 9, it asks "Have you previously sought refugee status in Canada or applied for a Canadian immigrant or pernament resident visa or visitor or temporary resident visa?" In 2007 I went to Canada (Vancouver) on a U35 working holida visa for 1 year. I assume this should be ticked as yes and in the section below "if you answer to any of these questions is Yes, provide details below" I assume they have that on file anyways, or should I include my old SIN number (obv a temp sin number for the year). The actual physical visa paper was removed from my passport by a Canadian Immigration officer when I arrived to visit my girlfriend last year.

Yes you should include yes and explain the type of visa in the space listed below. Sounds like you are almost ready to apply!

Tick 'yes', and then provide the details below. Give the date of the visa, even if only approximately. Give your old SIN number too. CIC has details in their files, but when I looked at the files the gov't had on my husband's TRV applications, I was surprised at what details they were missing.

Ugh bit stressed now. The pictures I used with the medical, I had 8 taken at the time. I had to give 5 away I think., one for the chest xray and the rest for the medical itself. So, I have 3 or 4 left with me. I had planned on getting 8 new pictures taken today to send with the application, but I read something that has me worried that all pictures i send must be exactly the same photos as the ones sent with the medical.

Just spent the entire day writing the development of the relationship! 6 pages, not too bad I guess compared to many of you! Question regarding IMM 5540 Sponsor Questionnaire, question 7. Should she put her gross income or net income. She wrote net income guesstimates but may now have to change it if that is the case.
