Any suggestions on tourist activities in or around Bangkok? Will be going to Thailand with my wife for a week for our anniversary.

That was my original plan, but after living here for the better part of 10 years I changed my mind. Missed being able to read all the signs, ask for help in a shop in English, listen to all the radio/TV stations. The traffic/parking, language barriers, etc just got to be too much for me and the things I like to do a foreigner just can't do here. If you are an avid golfer and drinker Thailand is great....unfortunately I'm not very good at either of those things. The cost of living has gone up a lot in the past 10 years as well, so not the bargain it used to be. Health care in old age is a big consideration as well. Not saying it is all bad, many foreigners love it here, I'm just not one of them. As Dorothy said " there is no place like home" ;D

Bangkok is pretty busy, even more so than usual with all the Thai's going to attend the mourning of the King. My advise is get out of Bangkok as fast as you can and head to one of the other cities/beaches.

How is intercity travel? Decent transit system? We will be landing at dmk around 6pm and will stay in Bangkok for the night. Looking into where to go from there but we need to be back at dmk Dec 6 at 9am so wherever we go we want to make sure we get back on time.

Update SVO applicant,

Just received PPR for my wife. 8)
Bangladeshi Applicant.

Thanks for all the support, I will keep you posted. ;D

Congratulations to everyone receiving PPRs!

Meanwhile, I'm getting a little anxious. I have emailed CIC twice since last week to confirm that they have indeed received our papers because the 30 day deadline is coming to a close(November 6th) but still no news from them :(

Just wondering, has anyone else had any experience with CIC asking for an updated medical and police check within 30 days? Like, do they wait for the 30 days to be finished before even looking at it?

Thanks everyone

Hi ames,

They typically will not acknowledge that they recieved the requested docs and usually they will wait the 30 days to review the file.

Congrats!! You are on your way now. I have had some comms with SVO now for med and police check so at least I know they are looking at our file. I hope that as soon as I get the police check to them we will get some good news shortly after that.

Good luck to all.

From DMK you will be getting a taxi and that can take a long time to get anywhere downtown.

Hi Papul, you also need to send the attached letter. I printed all but the vfs officer took only the first 3 pages.
