Dear Team,

I have a matter that I would appreciate your advice on.

I have submitted a spousal sponsorship application for Canada with the following details:

  • Application Submitted: September 11, 2024
  • Principal Applicant Status: Visitor Visa
  • Sponsor: Canadian Citizen
  • Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR): October 27, 2024
I received the AOR on October 27, 2024, and I am now planning to apply for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). Once I log in to or create my IRCC secure account, I will need to answer a few questions to obtain a personalized document checklist. One of the questions is whether I have completed a medical examination. They have also provided a list of designated physicians for this purpose (https://secure.cic.gc.ca/PanelPhysicianMedecinDesigne/en/Home).

My question is: should I complete the medical exam and submit the results with my SOWP application, or is it advisable to submit the SOWP application first and wait for IRCC to request the medical exam? Would waiting for the request potentially delay the processing of my SOWP application?

Any advice or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated as I move forward with my application.

Best regards.

A bit of a late update since I was out of town for work.

Application Submitted: September 30, 2024
PA Status: PGWP
AOR: October 29, 2024

Letter says next steps is biometrics but wife hasn't received anything yet.

Application history on the tracker just says "Application received", and how they'll check the documents from the documents checklist.

Hello everyone
all stages are complete on application status tracker for over a month but there are no updates neither copr number nor a decision. Did anyone face a similar situation and what could be its cause? Thank you

I have situation here, we received BIL on October 30th and pre arrival letter on November 1st. Biometrics not yet submitted, Since PA passport is about to expire it was submitted at bls for renewal. We have requested bls for withdrawal the application, but they have mentioned that there is a option to pause the process for a certain time and we can get back the passport for a couple of days and once the work is done passport needs to be resubmit at bls and the process gets resumed
1. After biometrics do we need a passport for medicals ?
2. what are the steps after pre arrival invitation ?
3. do we need original passport at any other steps in the future?
