I am curious on how this helps, or what the obligations of a minister are in this scenario. How can we have a member of parliament when we have no voting rights. since we're not citizens yet?

Your MP is being paid from your tax money. So, you have the right to take up issues with them. You dont need to be a citizen for that. Can Canada ask you not to pay taxes till you become a citizen?

I received my certificate today (both was on February 5th) and I sent my passport application right away.

This is the tracking page for Telus equipment that I sent back.
You can see it's out for delivery since September last year.
I haven't received any complaint from Telus, so I just assumed it was delivered.

You can just use the webform to contact IRCC to confirm, but I wouldn't worry about Canada Post not delivering your mail.

How long after you emailed the oath form your status changed to complete for oath section in tracker?

All the fields in my tracker updated to complete apart from oath today. Language, Prohibition and Physical Presence all completed on February 19, 2022. Oath status is not started. ECAS status has been updated to Decision Made. The end is in sight!

Hi Experts

I have had some strange movement on my file and I need some opinion as to what is happening to my file as I have zero confidence in getting a reply back from IRCC.

Here is the timeline of my file

Filed : Sep 2020
AOR: Dec 2020
Fingerprints request: 8 Mar 2021
Fingerprints submitted: 10 Mar 2021
Background verification complete: 8 May 2021
Citizenship test passed: 8 Dec 2021
Background verification set back to In progress: 10 Feb 2022

Now my predicament is that instead of getting done with my file and a decision made, my file has taken a turn in the backward direction and BG verification was set to in progress even when there was one month left in expiry of criminality check. As of now I have not even received a new request for FP’s.

I’m extremely frustrated with this as you can imagine. Does anyone have an opinion as to what’s happening with my file and what could be the next steps and timelines? Based on my follow ups with IrCC through my local MPs office I was told that my file is okay and there is nothing to worry about. However, im confused why it’s taking so long for a regular file.

Is it possible that I can voluntarily give fingerprints to IRCC using the old FP’s request letter that they had sent instead of waiting on them to send me the same thing over again?

PS : on my GCMS notes I noticed that the BG verification activity was created by an officer on 10 Feb 2021 and was set to expire on 10 Mar 2022. Is it possible the system automatically changes the BG verification status to In Progress based on the event creation date?

Since you are requested fingerprints, BG verification expire 1 year from the date they were last taken. In your case, they may have noticed that 1 year period is up and probably put in another request for fingerprints. Expect them anytime now. Putting a request doesnt mean you will get an email immediately. It all depends on when the next batch of FP requests are processed by the Vancouver office (they are the only ones I'm aware of, that process FPs). No, its not possible to submit FP's again with the same old request. You will get a new one soon. Sorry you had to go through this, there is nothing anyone can do at this point to expedite. Just hang in there.
