Hey everyone!

Been readiing streams and streams of posts on here, and thoughts would share my update so far.

I'm a canadia citizen (my mother is canadian) and all my immediate family moved over there 9 years ago, whilst I stayed in England. I have now met my English fiance and we are looking to move over to canada.

We applied for sponsorship and all forms including Medicals and fees were done upfront and received on the 18th sep. I was them approved to be his sponsor on the 5th November and our file was transferred to Ottaw
a. I have been checking the status and it just shows as app recieved. Am I being a bit ambitious and impatient willing it to change!!

I am also paranoid that forms/medicals/fees expire, how long do we have and what are your experiences of similar types of applications??

Thank you

Caroline :)

Caroline update your status on the London outland thread .You can see the process of other applications updates, even though your file is being process through Ottawa we keep a spreadsheet. . It will keep you sane and will help with the process . Application received is normal until it changes to in process then Dm .

Thankyou will do- also I need a jargon buster, what's AOR stand for and all the other abbreviations?

My ECAS still says: application received.
Your story is a lot like ours. My wife is Dutch and Canadian by descent . Our case is treated in Ottawa , but we have an outland procedure.
Hopefully Ottawa will treat it quickly. So far no news yet, who knows this week .

Positive thinking.

Hey rhcohen,

I have a question regarding how the VO MIGHT work. Recently on the Accra thread, one of the members who applied on August 11 got a PPR. She applied on August 11 but had to resend forms on September 11, then her file got transferred to Accra Oct 29.

I applied Sep 10th and got SA on October 27. My question is, am I a month behind her? or should I expect something at any moment since both of our files got transferred at the same time?. I wonder if they put her application in the August pile or do they work on applications based on when they got them?

I realize you won't know exactly but what's your opinion?

I am also wondering the same, I think the VO starts processing application on the day they recieved them so I guess you should get something anytime now... but who really knows !

generally, applications are batched by "received dates". It doesn't matter when the application was submitted, what matters is the date CIC considers your "received" date (you will know this by the AOR, SA and/or ECAS). Once it gets to the visa office, it is assumed the applications are processed in batch order (meaning by month, not necessarily by day), so if your "received date" is in the same month as the other applicants, there is a good chance you may hear from the visa office soon. if it's the month after the other applicant, then you will probably be waiting a bit longer. of course every visa office handles things differently, so it's a good idea to check out the thread specific to your visa office to determine how much longer you may be waiting. best of luck!

Thank you! her received date is August 11 and mine is September 10th. She was lucky because she had to resubmit forms which is why it took her long to get SA, but CIC still considered her as an August applicant.

She got her PPR 10 days ago so I have a few weeks left I guess.

Thanks again

remember it also depends on the completeness of the information provided in the application, and whether the visa officer determines if more information/an interview is required. if the thread for your visa office tracks progress in a spreadsheet, you may be able to determine "trends" for how long it takes the visa office to go from application received to in process to dm and what those status' mean for that visa office. good luck!

Yes, we do have a spreadsheet. The "trend" is people get DMs only a few days after In Process. But they stay in Application Received forever.

Thanks!
