Hi Toronto2013

How are you doing? What happened with your case? Have you received your Passport request? Is everything done?

Cheers,
Kunishsa

The CIC website shows the processing times as 16 calendar days for a new PR card. Here "New Immigrants" means, everyone who landed (or) just the FSW or someone else? Since CEC class applicants generally are residents of Canada. Forgive me if this sounds a stupid question. But 16 days for PR card, really? I can not believe this and I am going to finish 16 calendar days tomorrow :)

Hi All,
I finally finished my landing this weekend. For there in the afternoon. The experience was good except for the waiting period. Crossed into US for flag polling and then went towards the Canadian side. The waiting period was about 2.5 hours but once our turn came the process took 10 mins. All they asked us was for our COPR and passports. No other document was asked. But I took all my old passports, lease agreement, all my work permits and passed utility bills along with all Notice of assessments.
Thanks to all here and best of luck to the folks who are still.
I wonder if Vishal got his PR?

Congratulations and wish you all the very best. Thanks for the concern but I am yet to receive an update from CIC. Actually, another set of tests were requested by RMO for my spouse. We are yet to receive results for those tests. This has been a long and rough journey so far but it taught many things.

Nice to see you Vishal. Best of luck with your rest of the processing. Hope you land soon.

Hi All,

I have got a question -

I got my CoPR a week back and now ready for Landing. I am traveling end of this year hence planned to complete my landing in January 2015 at Pearson International Airport, Toronto as I was not sure if I would get my PR cards in time before my travel If I do my landing now.

Tricky part is, I have now got an email from CIC for a scheduled interview in Etobicoke on Nov 25th to finalize the PR.

Here is the email content -
Attached to this email is a letter indicating the date and time of your permanent resident landing interview at CIC Etobicoke. Please print this letter and bring it with you to your interview. Also attached is a document detailing the photo requirements for your confirmation of permanent residence document. “If you are outside of Canada, you do not need to attend this interview. Please inform our office that you cannot attend by replying to this email.”

Please do not reply to this email unless you cannot attend your scheduled interview due to a personal, family or medical emergency. If you are rescheduled, your next interview will occur in approximately six weeks. All other replies will not be answered.

1. Does anyone know if this is a standard process or something else ? I hvnt heard of CIC sending appointment letters.
2. If I complete landing on Nov 25th and my PR card does not come before I travel, what options do I have ? (I know, SLA is now 16 days, but still, just in case).

Thanks in advance,
Mohit Goyal

Hi,
this seems to be a new system started these days. If it's not convenient for you, just reply as instructed in the email you received and explain your intentions to land on your way back to Canada. On the other hand landing in the local CIC office might be convenient for the people currently in Canada after they received their passports and CoPR. They don't need to travel to the the nearest border for landing especially when the interview is scheduled within days (before it used to be minimum 1 month).

Its standard when you book an appointment.

I got that same email WITHOUT booking an appointment.
In fact, I was supposed to go to Niagara tomorrow (already filed for a VL). Then I got that email last Monday for a landing appointment next week.

I was waiting forever for everything throughout my PR process. At least I can expect to get my PR card soon. I had already prepared for a 3 month wait. Anything less than that is a quick turn around :)
